New Rules Reference

By PanchoX1, in X-Wing

We're still talking about this? I get it the rules are important, but **** anyone who attempts to say R4 or anything like that can't be used in a tournament because 'They don't have a timing window' I would call bull on that faster than it would take me to pop a picture of the piece of...something that is making that statement on social media along with the words.

"This is Gary, Gary believes I can't use R4 in this tournament because it has no timing window. Gary is a ****head. Shame. Shame. Shame ****ing Shame!"

I know, I know, RAI and RAW are two very different things, but people are making this a bigger issue than it should or needs to be.

I just want to turn up at a tournament and have fun, is it too much to ask players not to be rear-wipes who attempt to leverage the rules to their advantage despite clear design intention...

Rant over.

It seems to me that the X-Wing community spends more time picking apart the rules and clarifications to make mountains out of molehills more than they actually play the dam* game!

Oh well, glad it's settled then.

To celebrate this whole "revealed-maneuvre-gate" affair, I will fly this next time I get a game:

T-65 X-wing - •Wedge Antilles - 81
•Wedge Antilles - Red Two (55)
Swarm Tactics (5)
Proton Torpedoes (13)
R4 Astromech (2)
Afterburners (6)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

VCX-100 Light Freighter - •Hera Syndulla - 106
•Hera Syndulla - Spectre-2 (73)
Crack Shot (1)
Collision Detector (6)
Dorsal Turret (3)
Seasoned Navigator (7)
•Nien Nunb (5)
Shield Upgrade (3)
Ghost (0)
Veteran Turret Gunner (8)

Total: 187/200

View in the X-Wing Squad Builder

An awesome I6, doubletapping, rock-ignoring, Hera Master of the Dial-Fu , in all her green awesomness.

Oh, and Wedge.

If my oponent even blinks about "revealed maneuvres", I will produce a printed copy of this thread, binded in hardcover, and make him read it in full out loud. Then I will beat him to pulp with it, therefore wining by concession. Should be enough for the rest of the players around to get the idea.

FFG , If you are reading this, please release a VCX config or title that adds an astromech slot, so I can add an R4 and rule the skies with the ultimate Dial-Fu. If you do, I'll etch this very thread in clay tables and carry them thru the land of tabletop simulators.

And what would be your basis for doing so?

I don't disagree, but I do feel it's worth pointing out that some people at tournaments may well be jerks. If we know about a loophole or contradiction, why not have FFG fix it before such people abuse it? Meaning no offense, but simply relying on the idea that every single person you encounter will be a decent, honest fellow is a surefire path to disappointment and misery.

After playing pretty much a major tournament per month for the last half a year I can confirm the judge was at my table two times. Both times because either me or my opponent were too stupid for an edge case so we needed an adult.

I have yet to meet a genuine rules bender. On the other hand I have meet many many people with compulsions to pick apart rules for nobodies benefit because these situations will not show up. I fully expect a judge to issue a warning to a person who legitimately argues that now cards don't work at all.

I mean obviously you can't play the game at work.
