Question on actions

By Quixol, in Mutant Chronicles

Posting this topic to capture questions we all have, well, really those I care about, concerning Unit actions.

First up for myself is how do people play or can someone explain the following two actions

1. Bear Sergant - Savage Tactics: I assume by spending a gold token, you deal 2 armor piercing damage to Enemy Units adjacent to the Bear Sergant. No roll required and Armor does not protect. It is not something you can shoot at one person and then damage others enemy units around them.

Assuming all of this is true, what about cover. This reduces damage, so should it be considered as 1 point of armor being reduced or is it unique in its nature and still adds protection?

2. Inquisitor: After you play an resolve brotherhood or command card, heal all damage that has been dealt to Inquisitor. We currently play that any unit for the player who plays one of these cards heals the Inquisitor(s). Does anyone require that the card has to be played by the inquisitor?

1- I must admit that I'm not sure on this one as well. I'd say it doesn't ignore cover, though, because that card only talks about armor piercing damage, so there is no reason to think the damage also bypasses cover.

2-All the Inquisitors in your army are healed when you play a Brotherhood or Art Command Card with any of your unit. Yummy ! (the same thing can be said about similar powers of the Bronze ranger, the Silver Venusian Ranger, and the Silver Venerable Technomancer).

1° By default, all damages are reduced by armor and cover (like Dark Aura card). In the case of Bear Sergeant, the unit has sniper special ability which ignores cover and savage tactics which ignores armor, so I think the two special abilities combine in this case to overcome all the protections the adjacent ennemies may have. But this unit action need 3 actions to be played (so you need to be adjacent to the ennemies before assigning the gold order token to the Bear Sergeant which may happen rarely during game unless you use a transport like the KA-67 Great Grey).

2 Yes, it's not specified the card must be used by the unit itself. So any cards played by your army (Brotherhood and Art types only) is eligible to trigger this special ability.

Hum, I had forgotten the Bear Sergeant also had Sniper... I could argue that Sniper works with "attacks", and that Savage tactics is a special action, not sure it qualifies as an "attack", but I agree that would be looking too much into semantics. So I agree with what Coral Beach said !

Other question about actions and healings... The Elite Guard Bishop can heal himself with his two-action power?

Yes, it was stated on the old forums that the Elite Bishop can use his power to heal himself.

More precisely, he is in the effect radius (other effects have an "adjacent only" range).

Ouch! But of course, it seems bizarre to me the "allied miniatures at one hex" description if you can say "adyacent allied minis" as usual.

Thanks a lot for the fast answer!
