October 4th was originally "confirmed" as the release date by an FFG employee so I'm sure October 18th is the planned date, but as mentioned previously at this point I'm dubious about any announced release dates. Especially since I'm assuming the announcement was just for the UK, or did they say "worldwide"?

Sure, I recognise there have been several missed dates so far, but Asmodee UK is usually pretty good. Based on previous experience they don't officially announce the date until a) they have stock, and b) they know what the official release date is. Given that the reasons for the delays were supposedly customs issues in Germany, and that resellers in Germany and other parts of Europe have previously said (in the last week or so) that Asmodee Europe has now given them the 18th as a release date, that date is looking good. We know the US has stock, now we have stock, and Europe has stock and the latest we've heard from FFG also says 18th (and as far as I know they haven't immediately backtracked on that one as they did with the 4th).
The source was an e-mail from Asmodee to all UK resellers. They certainly didn't announce any of the previous dates mentioned, and have resisted any attempts to drag a date out of them, as they don't announce until they are pretty sure... That doesn't mean that FFG can't just tell them to put the date back, but I'm sure that's the last thing they would want to do at this point.
Forgot to mention, the Battledroids and Phase I clones were also on the list for the 18th...
