Hey at least you aren't Bretonnians. Where we've never gotten an expansion, just a series of scorched-earth reboots. And death.

This is R3dReVenge’s raison d’etre though. 😛

I know it doesn't help much with AoS (and isn't the same are official support), but Fireforge games make some plastic models that almost match the aesthetic (Arthurian mythology knights) very well. Which is probably part of the reason Bretonnians went away, since GW couldn't easily copywrite the models, unlike Stormcast, etc. Similar to how the names for everything changed to weird "misspellings."
Bretonnians at least have dim hope of being added into the rumoured upcoming Free People army book.

Nonsense. They have just been getting their bases switched over to the proper size for the last two decades.
So I have been white knighting FFG for the last few weeks on this forum, and even let the Oct 4 date slide, but if we're now heading for a maybe-end-of-October I have come the obvious conclusion: FFG Legion Crew - you guys suck atm .
My group has been eyeing Warcry of late, and that is likely where the money I put aside for the CW is now going. I can simply play my Rebels going forward.

Personally, I quite like skirmish games as (typically) they have a lower cost of entry/continuation, and the smaller forces allow me to take more time converting and painting to really personalize my team.
I know IA is technically the "Star Wars Skirmish Game" but I wouldn't mind some decent solid (official, I'm sure some third party rules exist) rules for a Legion based Skirmish game with individual models treated as units.

Yeah, they basically died of 3 decades of total reboots, followed by a xenophobic purge of the IP. Sad! The thing GW's suits don't get is, that vague, hard to defend IP has broad appeal based on familiarity. Without psuedo-historicals and a bunch of vaguely Tolkein-esque armies, I never would have bought into WFB to begin with. I didn't buy any historicals until after GW burned me out. I have around 75 zillion points of mint unpainted Bretonnians in my basement so I'm all set. However I do also paint Fireforge, Perry, and Warlord plastic knights & infantry. All of which is made across the pond and doesn't charge me a 25% "we think Americans will pay it" surcharge!
And changing all the paint names to defensible IP is just pathetic. GW's basically turned into Initech. And uh, I'll go ahead and make sure you get another copy of that memo, ok?
I still defend FFG, even with this thing going on with the badly needed additional two factions. I tried out some of their other games but never got into them until Imperial Assault & Legion but I really like them, delays and all. Though I might just be the FFG equivalent of the GW fanboy who hasn't been around long enough to get burnt badly by GW yet.
Instead of Warcry I'd recommend SAGA. Or Frostgrave. Talk about low cost of entry! There's no reason for official models though they do make them if you're so inclined. Warcry seems a little too hyper-focused and apt to abandonment. Though if anyone wants to cut a deal of some kind, I'd love to get just the scenery from a Warcry starter set. I might buy one, and sell the warbands and rules.

Very true, but if Warcry is what the playgroup is interested in, that's still better than AoS or other big army games for entry cost. To add to your list: Mortal Gods and Test of Honour are also decent historical skirmish games, with typically lower model counts than SAGA (5-20 models IIRC, vs 25-73 [worst case, generally in the 30-40 range in my experience]). Both again have "official" models, but they aren't required.
SAGA's Age Of Magic is quite good for Fantasy skirmish, especially since it is designed to be used with any models and "pick a faction that suits your playstyle" rather than purely "based on your models" army building.

I wasn't aware that was out now. Interesting. Interesting.
5 models or 30 models, either way for any new endeavor I'm probably on the hook for precisely one $35ish box of multipose guys. I'm unclear how SAGA could get up to 73 guys. I borrow other people's books but I think SAGA is pretty firmly locked in to 17 to 49 models. With 29 being typical.
I think a version of Legion where you move individual models and not squads, could replace IA in the future.

Agreed on the Legion Skirmish being a "replacement" for IA. IA still has the board game aspect though (both with and without app), so it wouldn't be a complete replacement, but there would be a chance of replacing it at the tournament level.
It's not common, but you COULD run a SAGA warband of just Levy. IIRC, the "normal" SAGA warband is 6 points (magic upped it to 8 for monsters. warmachines, and additional heroes), so 6 units of 12 Levy plus the Warlord = 73. Groups can sometimes get into skirmish games cheaper since they can split the sprues in large boxes of plastics among members. Plus some people prefer metals, so needing fewer metal models can save a fair bit of money.
Er, Squats came back... just not in a big way. Same with 40k beastmen.
I have definitely been thinking a Starmunda or similar for Legion would've been a nice place for them to go.

Dewback out on sale with wrong base size. People who bought were asked to contact support to arrange a replacement, those that did were told that they would be dispatched at the time it came back into stock as they were currently out of stock. So those bases were sent out last week I believe. Given that they recalled the Dewbacks and they would.prioritise fixing that "Dewbackle" then that would mean they had an issue with the same bases that are used in TCW sets. It may be that it is all related and that the core sets hit a delay as a result of that.
the base sizes for the dewback and for the clone wars are different colors

True but what if the same people who pack(repack) the Dewback are the same that pack the clone wars box

Then the Clone Wars box would also have the wrong bases. If you mean that are fixing the issue, unlikely as the packages are (probably) initially packed in China. Dewbacks are already in warehouses across the world.

Twas just a thought, there could be factors similar though
1 minute ago, syrath said:Twas just a thought, there could be factors similar though
I agree, there could be some correlation, but I doubt that is the ONLY reason for the delays (at this point it seems like multiple things have gone wrong). The relation could be the boxes of Dewbacks taking up space in the warehouse, requiring different accommodations be made for the Clone Wars core. Or related to re-tooling the factory to produce the Dewback bases (changing color of plastic being used).
Regardless, at this point I think it's past the point where dewbacks are the only reason for the repeated delays.
I would say the biggest reason has to be shipping issues, especially if places like MM already have the product
@Alpha17 and Asmodee is French, so why do they care about the Germans? ( I kid, I kid)

I'll update when I hear a more concrete date (and will quadruple-check it this time!) I apologize for the inconvenience and getting everyone all excited."
I predicted end of October. Looks like that will be the case.
Can you let me know where that quote came from? I've searched around and I can only find posts quoting that statement, but not the actual statement itself. If FFG are releasing statements through a particular channel, it would be useful too know what the channel was so we can monitor it rather than having to search around all over the place... thanks.

FFG never officially released the statement. This came from one of the game designers.
