I've spent a lot of time experimenting with a "light" cova, with just pattern analyzer and elusive to keep her cheap and powerful, but I came across jaycris while theorycrafting and wondered why he's never used with her.

He could also be a beefy blocker, with BB-8 giving him access to double repositions on a blue, with stressless access to a focus afterwards.

Vi morandi can help with that, too, but she's also a bit overshadowed by finn.

So what do you think about this list?

Are these pilots not taken for a reason, or simply overlooked?

I've put the two together in a list, but haven't taken it out again or further tinkered since the Transport dropped in Wave IV. I know what you're talking about with the nice synergy between the two. The main reason I haven't is because I was doing a lot of Hyperspace practice with Separatists shortly after, so I just put them aside to focus on that.

I've been running Jaycris with Cova for a while. It works very well, except for the fact that you really have to plan ahead where you plan on moving Cova because Jaycris moves first. I didn't think of equipping a BB to him, I just threw an R-4 on him and called it good. That might help with the difficulty of planning around initiative.

I actually left Leah on Cova so that way I could use Leah to help Poe and Jaycris was there to back-up Cova. Only a three ship build and falls apart quickly once one piece is removed, but you can really pull of some fun moves with it.

I've used Jaycris in combination with Nodin to keep him coordinating every turn, and it works great.

Now that R4 works with Cova, there's not a lot of need for Jaycris in that combo though.

When you say R4 works with cova, do mean the same way as leia? Because if so, that's pretty OP

Yes it came out in the new Rule Ref yesterday.

Not really OP tho, only affects Hard 1’s.

Concerning the opening post. Tubb’s low ini doesn’t serve his ability very well imo. He’s restricted to slower moves or trailing behind the ships your trying to affect.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why so many people are going nuts over this change. In my experience, Cova lives and dies on her reverses, and the change has a negligible effect on them (It makes it slightly easier to shed stress without Leia, and lets you perform reverse into 1-turn if you need to keep the extra dice and don't mind giving up an action).

It's fine, its certainly not as good as Leia, but its worth it for the points.

I think most are just happy they can field her for 40pts. If the rest of the squad doesn't utilise Leia much then its a lot of points to spend on the Banana Boat. This is just a cheaper, less effective option that allows for points elsewhere, on more important ships in the list. It also means you have room for other crew like Holdo or Connix to diversify her build a bit.
