Competetive list help - Rebel, liberty.

By DblVsdGuy, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I am planning on taking this to a tournament. But I have very limited time with testing it out/learning how it works.

I like Madine but Rieekan is better. So it stands between them.

I'd love some input. This is my 3rd game with the Liberty since it has been out of stock for years in my country. Had to go abroad to get one.

It's pretty good, nothing glaringly wrong. I prefer Lando to Walex, I mean it comes with 4 defense tokens are you really gonna admo that many times and still be alive? Early warning system likewise I find is unwieldy and points could probably be spent elsewhere. I'm not a fan of sacrificial ships in competitive lists you don't want to your opponent points I feel so unless you have other plans for Garel's Honor consider switching it out for a CR90 or a longer range TRC hammerhead that might survive. Lastly no turbolaser upgrades on a Liberty is really unusual, I personally would play to it's strengths more I suggest dropping early warning system in favor of one perhaps QBTs and maybe another like Slaved turrets and just bid higher

I am torn between Lando/Walex. Both are good but Lando is big damage negation and walex is long term damage negation. Hard choice.

Garel's Honor is probably the best option to drop and put a Cr90 in. With Rieekan the hammerhead is an easier include since it is easier to get one shot off. Going to fiddle with the points to see what can be done.

On the Lib I'm going Mon Karen as most things seem redundant unless spinals. I need to keep the points down somewhere for that bid. But I see your point since the lib has 2 turbo slots so it is a wasted opportunity not to include some. Gunnery team I'm debating switching for Intel officer.

This is more or less the textbook Liberty list. The Liberty alwqays needs a secondary threat on the board so the opponent has to separate his fleet or face the consequences.

Glad to hear that. This is my first serious take on a list w the lib. My first 3 flights with it revealed that it is just a bigger nebulon. Goes down so fast under pressure.

A bonus for me is that I also love the mc30.

I've had a lot of fun and always had a shot at the top 25% using a similar list. I prefer Madine because he is less meta-represented and against opponents that haven't played a Madine Engine-Teched Liberty in awihle can have a huge surprise factor on the critical engagement turn.

Your squadron screen is way more fun, but I've instead used Shara/Tycho (and maybe 2 more awings) to protect MonKarren's flanks. The extra points can scale you into a TRC90 which are surprisingly potent with Madine. I think I'm going to try your Rogue plan sometime soon to see if they make up for the lost ship-to-ship power.

On the TRC90 note, I recommend you fly similiar to your current list a couple times and and then trade the MC30+flotilla for a couple TRC90's. Their constant pressure can often deal as much damage over the course of a game as an MC30, but defense tokens struggle to deal with them. They have the benefit of ramming flotillas easily and having slightly more resistance to out-of-control fighter wings. They are both good choices, but provide different options (and objective choices) that you'd have to feel to decide. (I later noticed your mentioned liking the MC30 particularly. They do couple together very nicely, and often confuse fighter screens figuring out with threat to focus on first.)

Lately I've been really interested in adding Cham Syndula to my Liberty list so the Liberty+2ndThreat can work on quickly eliminating vulnerable carriers and picket ships while I try to sneak a boarding team on to the inevitable Large ship. It's like having 2.5 reasonable threats if they are afraid of the Cham.

Very helpful advice! I definitely think that the trc90's has more potential than the mc30 with how I fly it now. Sadly there is no time to get a hang of it now as the tournament is this Sunday.

Flew this list today against Tokras Sloane (not Tokra himself) and managed a 5/6. Exposed myself too much for superior position. The other objectives where most wanted and fighter ambush. Maybe one of those would have been better.
