Funny things you've noticed about the new set...

By Ryken2, in UFS General Discussion

You know, like...

-Why is Karin getting owned in almost all of Hugo's support? Why her? To show how huge Hugo is by comparison?

-T. Hawk's Strong Punch should read "T. Hawk's Strong Fingers'.

-Why in GOD'S NAME did they use a blown up picture of PROMO NAKORURU for the new one?!

-Butt Slam doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the butt. Odd.

-I guess this is the set where you find out that your favorite fighters have other skills or whatever. Culinary Artist? Wooo, Rock can cook. Clean Freak? I guess Billy's the housewife in whatever relationship he's in *coughGEESEcough* (I mean, Geese is in Meat Eater. COME ON .) . Also, Kim can sing, as you can see in Karaoke Idol. And Rock can ALSO play Basketball. Ain't that cute?

-Raising Storm/Neo Raging Storm = Stupid. That is all.

-Kim Character? Check. Kim Support? Check. Phoenix Crusher? ...Phoenix Crusher?! WHERE IS PHOENIX CRUSHER ?! (Screw you guys, it's not Phoenix Flattner. That name's dumb.)

Anyways, that's all I got. Cause I'm bored.

Ok... we just had our pre release,

Traveling man doesnt work the way it should, the bottom half states discard all other cards revealed due to this ability when only the main subject card is revealed therefore no discard.

Dhalims Crouching Roundhouses symbols being the wrong way round (thats me being picky)

some of the art being a bit duddush.....

Sogetsu, my favie char from the set, but if u ignore the fact there is no rack on him he could very easily be a woman.

now uv made me sound all negative, we all had more laughs about this syuff more than anything! also all us in Colchester in lovely sunny England think that this is the best **** set so far cards wise!

The new effect of "If you block an attack with this card, add it to your staging area" seems to be aiding the foundation war. I know that they wanted to return to an Attack - Block based game, but was this really the way to do it?

yup

akshully, thwak always chops with his non-kick attacks..... so this makes sense, as his strong punch (middle punch for the uninitiated) is a chop/finger thrust

no money/time for new art? *shrug*

agreed

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the card "Trolling". It's gotta mean something to internet peoples, right?

Also, something Zangetsu pointed out, Travelling Man needs errata.

"After you block with this card, you may look at the top 7 cards of your deck, choose 1 card, reveal it to your opponent, and add it to your hand. Discard the other revealed cards."

Since you only revealed 1 card, none of the others are discarded right?

Haha! Travelling Man is funny. Another way to search out CTTE/RAS for the extremely dedicated combo players.

Void is back in a big way with it's HUGE amounts of discard courtesy of Sogetsu's new stuff combined with Jivat-Dan.

As far as I can tell Kazuki's Kindle tokens don't do anything. That being said, his character card has good art. So does Exploding Death.

Lots and lots of tasty new kicks, kicks are good.

New Chun-Li, with a tasty couple of abilties to boot. I can see people using her R ability to stack 6Chun-Li6 for super speed shenanigans.

Smaller attacks have useful abilities and better checks, this is good.

There isn't really a single card in the deck that I feel operates at either end of the usefulness-spectrum. Every card has a use but none of them are broken. I think this is a very balanced set.

Whoever did the foiling on these cards should be fired.

Out of a cannon.

Into a pit of fire.

Where the fire shoots lasers.

Raising Storm / Neo Raging Storm isn't stupid. Well, calling it the Neo Raging Storm is stupid 'cause his version of the Raising Storm is called the Raging Storm. It's more of a pleonasm than anything.

Basara introduces something this game has almost never seen before - direct damage, and it is hilarious.

The listing of alternate effects and costs is quite awkward, especially when the effects/costs involve more than one course of action and are thus separated by "and" and a comma. It can get confuzing.

Several cards start off their effects with an uncapitalized letter.

Some cards are actually much better than others if you think about them really hard. Mind of matter lol...

If I ever get back into the swing of things, I will easily break the burn effects wide open (by readying them...).

British Subject / Cathedral Overlook / Shooting Capoera / Instinctual Sword-Play (Air/Void) - It's hilarious.

Hip Buster >.>

i can see basara bringing back a dead archetype Burn

i was hoping to see some mill cards in these sets but nope not a single one.

VOID!!! yes VOID!!! it now has good foundations and good kill conditions once again. im so glad to see this symbol come back with both the sets before and these two sets.

they have basically re-printed lost memories!!

Order/void hybrid decks are going to be really really nasty

whilst single hit ko's are being reduced for certain types of deck control can still win off one huge attack or two medium hits :/

to me there is no single cards to get excited about but the entire sets are full of playable cards. well done the designers.

Hip Buster. O.o

In draft, that card went round the table and got a laugh at each pass.

Infiltrating > Hip Buster > Penetrating Lunge.

Combo of champions!

Trolling seems cooler every time I look at it. At first I thought, "lol he's at an Internet cafe... kinda jank effect, but discard your hand!?!?" Then I read it again and saw it said "reveal" not "discard" in the cost. On my 3rd look, it'd be a very effective counter to really pump-heavy decks. Order got an answer to Rejection, but it can't fire its lazor against trolls. [Read: High Plasma Beam Order decks can't stop Trolling without Kung Fu or the odd hand control tech]

Order/Void hybrids have always been nasty ;)

Oh, I forgot to mention, one of our SF boxes was mispacked...

One pack contained no rare.

One pack contained 3x rares.

TWO packs were godpacks.

Rawr!

this talk is making me sad. today was our prerealease and i missed llorando.gif

This just confirms it. Man Hat, your writing niche as far as UFS is concerned isn't "Card of the Day" but rather "Combo of the Week". Some of your ideas are, believe it or not, really good (see Promo Astaroth + Neo Deadly Rave gui%C3%B1o.gif ), but I'm not sure if you tell anybody about them for the added recognition. If you still want to write for Vik, then I suggest that you come up with a lulz combo or something similar (but interesting, or better yet, make it interesting), make a deck that lets you use that combo, and play a few games with that deck. Then, you write about the whole experience-- combo, deck/card choices, gameplay/feasibility/results/tournament results-- from your unique perspective. Spend less time justifying your actions and decisions, and place more emphasis on what was actually going through your head when you made your decisions because that speaks louder than any other explanation. Obviously, I would read an article on the above combo.

When I played YGO, I got sick of all the mainstream stuff that I'd see regurgitated every week with some player one-upping another player, so I said, "Screw it!" and made lots of burn and mill decks. Building and playing said decks in YGO is an art that I never mastered, but it was also my act of defiance.

It was Promo Astaroth + Deadly Rave.

Honestly, I'd have to come up with silly stuff each and every week, and while I could technically do it. We're on a break for now.

That and I don't have enough Cathedral Overlooks. Though I'm sure I'll be able to find some around here if I'm willing to trade jank URs.

Balrog's Face smasher is the weirdest looking throw ever!

My most famous deck in that game was the Accountant deck. Pretty much a burn deck of epic proportions, where you had to keep up with both life totals because you could easily kill yourself with it.

Honestly, were I to build this around now, I'd call it the Recession deck.
