Anakin in its awesome Y-Wing

I mean, I understand, but it's 1pt. Then again, I do generally think Foresight is a sleeper hit.

Seriously!

The Force user's Snap Shot, bullseye at full range 1 - 3.

Do you think that it's a waste on lowI single-force Knights or Inquisitors?

I'm thinking two charge pilots are the sweet spot.

Don't be daft. The title of the thread is crime enough.

I’m still confused on if these are Hyperspace legal yet. I thought there was a wait period between launches and FFG tourney events.

For “premier events, yes. Hyperspace Trials didn’t fall under this but I believe that is changing. The TO at the one I just went to was told it was his choice whether or not Wave 5 was legal today.

TO: “I’ll make it legal”.

I’m thinking if you decide (anyone list building) to fly Anakin in the BTL-B, the stapled pilot is Plo Koon. Oh you need to reload? Cool gain the disarm, I’ll remove it so you can unloaded those Torpedoes immediately. (44) points and I5. I have a list I’m working on with Plo & Ashoka as wing mates.

Flew against exactly this yesterday at a local store tournament, it's very effective

May I ask what was the Torpedoes of choice, I’m cons Proton Torpedoes but I’ve seen others talk about APT, my concern between the two is range control and charges.

No. it is a French speaking dude that was tired and made a "mistake". So get over it.

Of course.

The Ani I had to deal with has Ahsoka gunner, instinctive aim, dorsal turret, R4 astromech, hull upgrade, and Advanced Proton torps

He was paired with CLT Plo and R2-D2 with proton bombs and Palp

That was my reaction as well, I was running a Vulture swarm (admittedly pretty badly, I had a bad afternoon at the tournament) and was fairly confident going in. Turns out proton bombs aren't a nice thing for swarms, nor is an ace with infinate APT's (my poor relay carrier)

Hm.

Bad joke.

@Comte Oseric how did you do in the trial and what did you end up flying? Report back!

Well, only played 1 game - decided to go with a more reliable list to my HS. 80pts+ on a Y-wing is.. not ideal :P

Won the game - but it was vs 4 Ywing Republic. It was a funny game.

Has anyone figured out why we would want to run Yw-ings at all? Seems like Republic has many good/better alternatives.

Esp Anakin, why a I6 Ywing when you can have a I6 Delta that does 4 dice at R1 every turn. (It just looks better)

For Anakin, I got nothing.

For "in general," you got two things at first glance

Glance 1.) "Broadsides" has a ridiculous ability and is surprisingly cheap (since he won't bother investing in vet turret gunner)

Give him Cody and an ICT and he's 44 points, only 2 more than a 104th!

He'll probably be your "support gunner" (7th fleet and ahsoka) platform since, again, vet turret gunner isn't his jam

2.) R2d2, c3po?

So, the bank of calculates works well with VTG's double tap. C3po's re-roll really helps out survivability

issue: I can get c3po Wolfe for only 2 more points

Matchstick has similar vtg synergy and issues with comparison to c3po Wolfe

so...yeah, mainly broadsides ict cody for me. The ability is stupid powerful when you have a focus and Broadsides is cheap enough to not be a massive points burden when not getting said ability

Because Torpedoes backed by 3 Force are fair and wholesome.

Also, looking ahead, Delta Anakin has probably lined himself up for another nerf in January, so Torpedo Y-wing Anakin may end up being cheaper than him.

I guess plasma torp Y Anakin is 69 points

...Nice?

Price comparison here, trying to be conservative ish with my flimsy Y

New Squadron

(60) Anakin Skywalker [BTL-B Y-wing]
(2) R4 Astromech
(9) Plasma Torpedoes
(5) Ion Cannon Turret
Points: 76

(62) Anakin Skywalker [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(6) R2 Astromech
(20) Delta-7B
Points: 88

Total points: 164

R4 on the Y could be r2, but I don't want to have the need Anakin's ability to move worth half a ****

Had a lot of fun with this list over the weekend. 3-1. My loss could have swung the other way easily: my opponent had 3 ships with 1 hull left.

2 of my victories were vs Top tier players.

Proton Torpedoes (13)
R3 Astromech (3)
Shield Upgrade (4)

Foresight Bananakin (assuming you use the standard, yellow model) with Cody seems like it could be...okayish?

Yes.

With ELEVEN SHIELDS and 3 ARC170s,

Seems fair.......

Anakin should be trying to proc Cody most of the game and not doing damage. He doesn't have to....

Let the ARCs just pummel the strained targets.

Eleven Shields and three force should be enough to get him to the end-game.

Eh, 11 health isn't terribly awe inspiring

Two more than an Arc; less than Vcxs and Decis

Also action dependent on r5

And Arcs burn fast

Get the man a **** ion turret + r4 so he can actually manuever!

Well if you throw Dorsal on there and compare Red to 104th, it's six points cheaper for...

Pros:
Smaller base
Less cost
Ability to equip bombs
Ability to equip turrets
Ability makes it hard to burn down via crits
Can reload
Has I6 3 Force pilot
Can move its arcs to any direction besides just backwards

Cons:
One less hull
Two less blues, identical dial
Has 33% less firepower
Has to equip a turret for its second arc and has to spend an action unless coordinated to move it
Simply cannot shed stress as easily without R4 Astromech.

Overall
Looks like a generally superior platform, to me. Far more options on the outset for the time being, and can much more easily fit into more squads. Definitely wouldn't run one naked, but that's just not your M.O. when you're running a Y-Wing. An ARC can get away with that.

But even with proper upgrades, the Y-Wing is still cheaper than an ARC-170, no matter the cost. That is significant to consider. It may even be comparably durable.

Losing 33% offense does not a generally superior platform make :(

The Arc crushes the Y in the role of a bruiser/jouster what have you.

The Y, as you identified, is a superior (cheaper) upgrade platform

Except Probably for C3po. Tractor changes and superior pilot abilities make him seem a lot better on an Arc than on r2d2
