Card storage solutions not a binder

By ScummyRebel, in X-Wing

Aside from the quintessential binder, what else has worked well?

Additionally, has anyone seen an organizer that fits in one of the ffg sized boxes? The product page says epic battles is 8x8x1.5” so I wonder if broken token or someone else ever made something that size?

I am looking for a way to set aside the epic specific cards but have them organized and ready.

Currently, I’m using the broken token solution for the hobby lobby artist case for upgrade cards and a binder for pilots and promos/alt arts.

I've used my own self-made solution (lasercut MDF box, withseparators for the different types of card) for a while, but ended up moving to a binder system. Really, you can't beat a binder for practicality in looking up cards, especially once you've got a couple hundred of them bunched up on a little box.

I was using that hobby lobby box but eventually gave up, that thing is cumbersome AF and my BT organizer was pretty ill fitting

Despite owning probably $200+ of card storage products, I am back to using the cheapo white cardboard boxes (2x, 900ct?) with tabbed inserts (printed appropriate symbols and cut them out of cardstock). Don't look great but works like a dream

This is exactly what I use.

Course, then I throw them into the back of a closet to never see them again. 😎

Mine see extensive since as I constantly swap from R4 to R2 in my sprites because I cant decide if I hate myself or my opponents more.

In 2.0, I use empty Magic The Gathering boxes that my FLGS sells cheap. I put different card types in individual deck-sized boxes, then put those boxes in flip-open “fat pack” boxes.

I had fiddlier solutions for the little cards in 1.0, but I kinda got sick of dealing with them. This takes up a little more space but it’s really simple.

Yep. I think they're 800ct, but whatever. I'm even cheaper and just cut up old comic backer boards and wrote what goes in each section on top of them. With the 2.0 upgrades not being pint-size anymore, this is the easiest non-binder solution.

I have a laser cut box that my local game store made for me based on another design. I use separators to split up ship types and/or upgrade types.

I stopped using the binders because every time new cards came out I had to redo them to sort the new cards in. I'd also end up with one card in a binder page slot that had four cards in it. Then I had stuff falling out.

I just got the cheapo white cardboard card storage boxes you find pretty much anywhere they sell trading cards. Made some dividers. I then organized the cards in a way sensible to me. Easier and faster to add new cards into the collection this way. Easier to find stuff you need to pull for lists since I use the squad-builders now. Easier to put stuff back when you're done with a list.

I also pull lists before going to the gaming place so I don't need to transport all the cards or all the models. I have a C-3P0 deck box from the old Decipher Star Wars CCG game I put the pulled lists in. It goes on top of my models in my Games Products bag.

Curious about the options as well. I currently use four half baseball card boxes (you can get a pack of 5 at CoolStuff for around $5). Works well enough, I may just need dividers if I stay with this setup. (maybe the nice ones at District Foundry eventually) Four boxes with plenty of room, and that is with all of the factions too.

I have all neutral cards in a cardboard 800 box like some of the others and faction specific cards in their own 80 card deck box (pilots, titles, crew, etc.). Then at home build a few lists I want to play, put all the cards & ships in a tackle tray, and take that with me.

I switched from one binder " to hold them all" to 3 duo-tangs.

I also keep my pilot cards in colour coded duo-tangs. Makes it easier to find cards.

If more space is needed, I add a new sleeve. Doesn't happen much as I don't buy reprints and dropped two factions.

Looking into tabs for the upgrades to help speed sorting/finding.

Laser Cutters are way to much fun.... I got a maker space in my area that lets me use one there. I never did make a Wood case yet for x-wing, but maybe down the line.

As far as cards, I just throw them inside a plastic tackle box style container with the ships, and other various bits and bobs,

I use a few of the clear arcylic card boxes. I used to use binders but got tired of constantly having to shuffle them in and out and reorganize when I got new cards.

So, I have a plastic card box for each faction, two big boxes for upgrade cards, and a seperate box for recently/frequently used cards, regardless of type. Usually this box contains the last few squads I've flown.
