While looking at this thread, I remembered seeing the following in the Fundamental Concepts - Measuring Range section of the Rulebook:

" While measuring range from ships, measure from the plastic base, not from the miniature. "

Based on the above discussion, I'm guessing they should have specified the cardboard, instead of the plastic base???
