Yoda what should have?

By Xeletor, in X-Wing

Should he have 2 force power slots?

4 force points? Both?

Sure... and cost a poop ton.

On his crew card or pilot card?

A nice quite life in the swamp.

I know my preferences won't happen, but I believe Yoda has no place in a space dogfighting game, [Irony] just like how Yoda never used a lightsaber in any movies or shows [/Irony], since that would undercut the entire purpose of his character.

You guys didn't hear? The first place prize at Worlds this year is a single copy of Yoda's custom star fighter.

It has 1 attack, 4 agility, 2 hull, 2 shield, and 4 force. Ability: After the opponent has set their dials, you may spend 4 force to reset those dials to a maneuver of your choice. He is also the first card that will have two force upgrade slots.

Good luck destroying him with R2 on board.

I keep saying Yoda crew should have like 2/3 force and allow you to spend x force to apply x tractor tokens to a ship of your choosing.

The caveat would be that the ship he is on can not spend his force tokens on attack.

Yes.

In all seriousness though I hope we do see that ship eventually. Yaddled!

Either, just speculate away!

Here’s my thematic take on the ultimate Jedi master who just runs away for several decades sometimes.

Master Yoda

4 force points. (Regenerating)

While a friendly ship in range 0-3 defends or performs an attack you may spend one force token for its normal effect.

In the End Phase, if this card has no active force tokens, you must flip this card.

(back side)

“Master” Yoda

You may not spend force tokens on any ship for any reason.

Or that you can only put the tractor tokens on friendlies, assuming you meant including or only enemy ships?

Don't forget, Anakins midichlorian count is higher even than Yoda's.

2.8 force.

Crew: 2 force points, no pilot please. Although he was piloting that ship in the pic, it was used for zippy transportation, not fighting if I remember correctly. It's possible R2-D2 did the piloting and Yoda is essentially a passenger. I can accept that, but I wouldn't want a Yoda pilot any more than Maz or Jabba.

As for his ability? maybe something along the lines of a force coordinate beyond R3 but takes 2 force to do as we do see using the Force take a toll on him in the OT.

4 Force points. When he uses one point to modify results, each point modifies two dices instead of one.

For the mini - Due to the very tiny ship he flies, I would love a blister with the Jedi Interceptor plus the Yoda special one.

I don’t think a Yoda Pilot have more than three force tokens, though an ability that magnifies there affect might work. Other themes for his ability could be his calming influence (using his force to remove red and/or orange tokens from friendly ships), his force perception (a riff on sense?), or trickery (nothing concrete comes to mind, but it feels like it fits). Above all, his ability needs to be inline with his statement “A Jedi uses the Force for Knowledge and Defense, never for attack”.

Crew. 1 force point, double recurring. That is all.

Alternatively:

Crew. 1 force point, recurring. After you declare an attack, you may cancel all your dice. If you do, recover all of your [force]. If you do, you cannot attack again this round.

Though I'd prefer to see the second as a light-side force talent called "Mercy."

The game is called X-wing after all...

I think the only reason that rule is singled out is because Force Charges are all combined into one pool for each ship they’re on, so multiple Force crew/one on a Force pilot are the only way that you see multiple “recover” symbols for one pool of tokens. They don’t stack, is the point, moreso than “we can never allow double Force charge recovery!” So yes the rule would have to be rephrased, but that really shouldn’t be an issue.

Even so, it could be a text-based ability just as simply. “At the end phase, recover one Force charge.”

He should either have 4 force points or 2/3 with the ability to recover 2 force charges per round. My personal favorite though is "Size Matters Not" where he can spend force to assign tractor tokens.

I think they will stick with 3 force, but might have a combo of pilot abilities like Lukes and Maces that allow him to regen force quickly. As a crew he may some kind of Sense ability, he was always feeling disturbances in the force. May allow you to reset your dial to the same speed or difficulty? He should be a good but costly card. I am hoping like crazy the do the ETA for him soon.

Crew: 3 force points, 1 recuring. At the start of the activation phase you may spend 3 force, if you do all friendly ships in range 1 - 3 recover all force tokens.

6 points (?)

edit: woops, meat to be range 1-3

If Yoda has 4 force and Mace Windu only gets 3 I'm giving up on the Republic and this is a Hill I will die on.

Aside from being worth waaay more than 6 points, this realistically cannot refill Yoda’s charges and be playable levels of powerful. Otherwise he could do it every turn, and all of his Jedi buddies could Fine Tuned Controls and Purple Evade every turn without actually paying any cost for those abilities.

Plus it’s just not very thematic. 🤷‍♂️
