So anyone looked at this as a setting yet?

Not that I've seen, but the upcoming Expanded Player's Guide looks like it will be good fit. There's a new setting in it called "Monsterworld"

Well, there is the official Cypher System game you can pick up for inspiration. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet, though.
