Republic Y-Wing list ideas (what are you hoping fits)

By Cgriffith, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Personally I’m hoping the following fits

Ashoka Tano - CLT, C1-10P, Foresight (double tap possibility, Ashoka can give a jam, then lock focus sounds fun)

Plo Koon - CLT, R2 ( can transfer Anakin a focus or remove his disarm token after reloading)

Anakin Skywalker (Y-Wing) R4, APT or/Protons, Instinctive Aim (frees up the action bar)

plus “X” ship if possible

I'm personally hopeful for this:

Broadside + ion cannon turret

Matchstick + ion cannon turret + Clone Commander Cody

Anakin + Delta 7B + C1-10P + Stealth Device

Broadside locks matchstick at the start of the match, and then they just circle around the board with the turrets pointing in, waiting for someone to fall into their ion trap and fly off the board

Anakin is just a super efficient ace with C1-10P, I'm curious to see how far he goes

This seems so janky it could work. Bringing back ionized ships is something I’d like to see more of.

Oh, you bet it's janky :D Matchstick and Broadside are the ones that can pull it off most consistently. Unfortunately, I don't think there's enough build around potential for the other Y-wings right now. However, I do think we need to look out for Goji. I would like to fit him with 4 dedicated torrents and obi wan for maximum defense, but... that should be around 220 points...

Fingers crossed for:

Plo Koon - CLT, Brilliant Evasion, R3

"Sinker"

2 Red Squadrons - Seventh Fleet Gunner, R4

If I can also squeeze C-3PO onto Sinker I'll be a happy, happy man.

I'm sure that list works, actually seems like a watered down version of obi wan + 3 arcs

Yep, but with a smaller ship that has better crit resistance and nearly the same health. And proton bombs if we're lucky.

Yeah, i feel like maybe a squad of 4 Y-wings all with dorsal turrets and seventh fleet gunners could be an arc dodgers nightmare and still pack a great punch in most cases

Also, thinking about Goji a little more, seismic could be interesting, considering that it's the only bomb that doesn't necessarily damage ships, is the cheapest, and can also just clear out rocks for swarms to have an easier time going around.

The dream loadout for Goji would be Seismic, delayed fuses (the only way to trigger his ability with seismics), maybe dorsal and cody for utility?

Also, does anyone know if skilled bombardier can drop bombs with a 'zero speed forward'?

Skilled bombardier still requires you to use a template. So the Y-Wing could set either a 1 straight or 2 straight template between the back nubs with SB and that's it. Still handy though.

If it allowed you to drop it at range 0, you could just keep Goji in formation and get bonus on everyone, including Goji himself, but it doesn't quite work like that unfortunately...

Hoping for something like this

Mace Windu (45)
C1-10P ( 5 )
Calibrated Laser Targeting (3)

Obi-Wan Kenobi (47)
Calibrated Laser Targeting (4)

"Broadside" ( 35 )
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Ahsoka Tano ( 14 )

Ric Olié (42)
Total: 200

I love the idea of broadside either passing tokens to CLT jedi or Ric at range 1, or else, use the force for his eyeball ability, meanwhile Mace is kturning behind fools and jamming them.

There is a little wiggle room with dorsel turret instead of ion cannon, and can always go Anakin Naboo or Dinee Naboo if I have to make more room for points.

A lot of interesting things so far, especially picking which Y-Wing pilots to use and which Delta, Chopper gets put on. With regards to Chopper how do you plan on using him?

My plan is to after the card is flipped, is to use Ashoka hopefully to Lock/Focus and use the Jam to strip the opponents ship of it green token then shoot fully modded shots.

I think Anakin is the best at using Chopper, being able to shed the stress easilyto get double actions is pretty good. He also has pretty much perfect information when he has to choose someone to jam

3 Ion Cannon Turret Y-Wings with an R2/7B Anakin. Ani is 88, and Rebel Y-Wings would be 36, which would fit with a 4-point bid. Major arc coverage, ion control, and a nasty ace.

Anyhow, what's the +/- on Republic Y-Wing cost to Rebel Y-Wing cost?

I feel like it should be a little more expensive, it has both an upgraded health pool and a crit negating ability, all while only losing blue 1 banks, which can be fixed by R4, which was already an all-star on the rebel Y.

The only thing that suggests it would be priced below the rebel's aside from the slightly clunkier dial would be the rumored absence of the torpedo slot

Wow, no torpedoes? That would be weird, it's supposed to be a "better" version than the rebel y-wing, with all its options and so.

On the other hand, I understand if the y don't want to give torpedoes to an initiative 6, 3 force pilot, but the other guys... Come on.

Legion Krakow has already opened the pack on video and there were no torpedo cards. Also, the article doesn't make any mention of torpedo upgrades...

Yes, but what about quickbuilds? They could be using the core set's proton torpedoes there. If no quickbuild features torpedoes then yes, I would assume they sadly don't have that slot.

To compensate... Maybe double mod/device?? It would be nice.

A pity the very taxing red reload is only useful for bombs, right?

I just realized something

Seventh fleet gunner says you can't roll more than 4 dice with it, but it doesnt say anything about added results

With that in mind, Y-wings with ion cannon and seventh fleet gunner should be the best at supporting CLT Jedi, as the ion pointed sideways gives you a lot of consistency to trigger the gunner and also if you do ionize someone the CLT Jedi have a much easier task of lining up the bullseye. And if you get it at range 1 with a seventh fleet gunner up, it's a 5 dice shot pretty much.

You can fit Plo and Obi, both with CLT, and 2 such Y-wings, and probably still have space for some bombs, and that sounds insane

Sadly, on the video they made they didn't show what the quick build cards had, so no luck there. But I imagine that if we don't get torpedoes, it's because Anakin would be insane to balance. Otherwise, i'd definetely field some battle meditation torpedoes Jank XD

So you can use these guys with r2 astromech for even more eficiency when recovering the gunner's charges, or go even crazier and add bombs for a lot of relaoding+shield regen+gunner recovery turns haha.

Who needs to shoot anyway? 😃 it would be cheaper with dorsal turret, I hope it becomes hyperspace legal soon.

I believe dorsal comes with the Ghost, so it should be legal when the Y-wing becomes legal

Another fun thing to do (not too good, but fun =)) :

Matchstick with any astromech, dorsal turret, trickshot and spare parts cannisters. The idea is to drop debris behind you and attack (hopefully) someone behind you with 3 or 4 dice which can be rerolled thanks to friends locking matchstick.

so I wasn't aware that TL worked in this way for RED tokens or am I missing something ?

If you go to the rules questions forums you will see a topic called Matchstick: are locks considered red tokens? That I started some days ago.

After some discussion I think it became clear they are indeed red tokens, so you can definetely do that (I still think it's a bit weird though 😄 )
