By Parakitor, in X-Wing

We are back with another episode! After a month of busy end-of-summer festivities, we come together once again to discuss the awesome game that is X-wing Miniatures. Mitch had some technical difficulties, so taking his spot tonight is Mason from the San Diego area. We talk about the Hyperspace Trial in Upland hosted by Gameology, and dive into some thoughts about Epic Battles and the imminent arrival of Wave V. We also bid farewell to Gabe has he moves on to new horizons in Maryland. The good news is that Mason will be a new regular host. Welcome, Mason!

Would have been better than the Fang for the S&V damage deck:

Dude, I literally just found out you have a cast, and started listening (literally right now, although I listened to 15 a couple of days ago), and now you're leaving? Geez.

I'll be a guest from time-to-time, but trying to record from the other coast would be a challenge. Glad to hear you started listening!

You guys are so mellow and amicable compared to me, Vince, and Drew!

I’m curious as to your reasoning. I understand your distaste for Mandalorians, but you really think an as of yet rereleased support ship would have been better than an already rereleased Fighter?

It is also more generic in design with the affected regions not obscured.

How is the Fang diagram obscured? I’ve only seen the one card, damaged engine, and it didn’t seem obscured. Have I missed more cards revealed?

It is a matter of the angle the ship is at and its construction. The Quad in a similar offset birds eye view has everything that the crits effect in the open, the Fang can for many merely approximate "it is in this area somewhere".

That said, my distaste is less for the Mandalorians themselves and more for the centering of S&V's faction defining features (emblem, faction talent and now damage deck) on them and the near cult worship they have directed at them... The Mandos are a proportionately tiny part of S&V, yet the rest of the faction doesn't have the same level of emphasis at first look...

A) I still don’t see how the Fang is considered obscured from one card. Yes, the Quadjumper has more prominent engines, but I’m not sure how it is better for “Loose Stabilizer” or “Panicked Pilot”.

B) How is any TIE better?

As for your view on Mandalorians, I can understand, but they are a popular part of the Universe, feature clearly in canon, and already have a rereleased ship. I’ll admit, even on the side of liking Mandalorians, I was kind of miffed that the Bantha Skull was used for the faction in general. But, if you shrink the symbol back to its origin, something off of one of the original Bounty Hunters, it works.

I'm quite excited for the Fang to be featured, but I'm a pretty big fan of Star Wars: Rebels all around, so maybe I'm biased. When I think of Scum, I think of Z-95s and Firesprays. The Firespray would have looked fantastic, but that doesn't help this discussion because it's just more Mandalorians (which, again, I don't mind so much because I simply adored what Karen Traviss did with Mandalorians and the clone commandos).

Yeah, I think I would have preferred the Firespray. Though upon reflection, I think it would have definitely crossed @Hiemfire ‘s point of important parts being obscured, like the engines.

The Z-95 would have been solid. It’s canon, it’s rereleased. I did originally mark it’s cross faction nature against it, but the Y-Wing is on the Rebel deck, so that’s not really an issue.

Hey guys,

just a note regarding the Gravitic deflection

Ly6xthw.png

It says you can refill a die for each tractored ship in the ATTACK ARC

It’s in the attackers firing arc, so if you’re tractored, you get the reroll.

This is seems to be the upgrade for lower initiative ships, whereas ensnared is for the higher initiative.

It also stacks.
