So FFG, may we get some damage deck variants?

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada

Imo it is really fitting for Armada to get the same treatment too since large ships suffering different criticals are so thematic and key to this game and and it's flavour, the images might give the feel of data screens reporting the damages on the bridge of your ship.

Possible ships to depict:

Rebel: CR90 or Nebulon (most iconic)

Imperial: ISD (of course)

Republic: Venator (of course)

Separatist: not sure though I like Lucrehulk

Like if you think this is a good idea and would totally buy it and make ffg richer!

I would get in on a deck for myself.

If they were going to do it, I’d expect them to release them with the first clone wars wave.

They have already done alternate damage desks as event prizes (latest Worlds, Nationals, and Euros all had them available) which are pretty swish-looking.

I would like to see damage cards with alternate textšŸ˜‰

I finally picked up a second damage deck after years of wanting one. This guarantees FFG will be releasing new alt-art damage decks - not only for each faction but for each commander as well.

INB4 acrylic damage decks as worlds prizes.

Oh, Man, that'd be a Stack worth having.

Woah acrylics, double likes

But before that, acrylic ship tokens! Those are the only things in cardboard that don't have a 3rd party acrylic substitute

If this would come true, I would buy one deck for each faction for sure.

As long as they are mini sized I would love it. The default damage deck is a bit bland looking.

I just want a full-size damage deck. Trying to shuffle mini-USA is a pain in the ***.

I see dead people!!! šŸ˜†

But seriously, I don't have any issue with the current damage deck. With that said, I'd certainly buy an Imperial themed one.

I was recently thinking of getting some damage decks printed for our new-player friendly RitR campaign we'll be running locally.

Why isnt this a thing?

Because there is no available replacement for them at the moment and cardboard tends to wear out fast.

Thats what I am saying. I would pay for acrylic ship cardboard.

It would be the single greatest enabler for a third party ship market, and would potentially kill FFGs business model of ship expansions.

since you can play without almost everything (using scans for cards) but a plastic base and a ship token is one of the last true essentials.

If the tokens were easily purchasable, well...

I would pay FFG, for acrylic ship tokens.

I have had all my Armada stuff for years and none of my Cardboard shows serious wear. Maybe My Range tool a bit but its still usable.

That said I leave all my ships assembled on bases even for transportation (Except the SSD) with the Huskey box I use, so the only time I am taking the stands off and handling the cardboard is to flip the token when needed. I find the FFG cardboard to be fairly robust, it won't hold up to water damage for sure but otherwise it works just fine.

I agree with the points that if FFG sold or allowed 3rd parties to sell acrylic bases it would hurt their business by allowing the thrid party to take over for anyone that wants. There have to be some components that FFG keeps a tight seal on.

But you wouldn't pay as much as a Ship Expansion Box

If I can get a ship expansion from somewhere other than Amazon right now, I would. :( my local store doesnt sell Armada because me and one other person are playing it.

Won't your local store special order for you? Most stores, at least around here, will order things from the distributor for their customers if they don't carry it in store.

Oh yeah, they will. Just one of those things where time & money comes into play as well sometimes. Being an adult with responsibilities sucks sometimes.

Well, that's further questions.

Is that because:

1) Your local stores don't stock them?

(If So, having ship tokens available won't help, because they won't stock them either, and a special order is a special order...)

2) The Items you want are out of Stock?

(If so, having ship tokens available won't necessarily help either, because a popular ship would go out of stock in those too, the way FFG handles things.)

Basically - it doesn't solve problems that customers have. Evne if it does, its in lieu of getting sales in an existant product. Now, we don't know what the Profit Margins are on FFG's things ,but you have to assume they do things a certain way for a reason... Not having components extra is their way of keeping both their Overhead and SKUs low, as well as maximising the profit on what they put their efforts into.

Its a Business decision, like it or not. I doubt we'll see it. Its taken forever for them to even consider Card expansions.

I realise its not majorly helpful, but y'all do know there were alt art damage decks at worlds, euros and uk champs plus NA equivalents....
