Counterparts we want to see.

By Welshie13, in Star Wars: Legion

With R2D2 and C3PO coming out with the counterpart keyword I wanted to open discussion on the wealth of potential counterpart pairings that we could see and how they might play. I will start us off with GCW pairs but there are plenty of CW pairs such as Embo and Marrok that I will leave for others to discuss. To qualify the pairs need to be somewhat inseperable on screen (or on paper).

Rebels

Cassian and K2SO: Stealthy or infiltrate but with K2SO providing some muscle in short range. If the rumors are true a Commander but I still think they make more sense as Operative.

Chirrut and Baze: Mix of close combat and range. Operative

Hera and Chopper: Stealthy but chaotic type keywords from Chopper. Commander or Operative.

Empire

Zuckuss and 4LOM: Ranged units with 4LOM adding modifiers equivalent to calculate the odds. Operative

BT-1 and 0-0-0: BT-1 providing range, 0-0-0 close combat with poison attacks. Operative

Iden Versio and Dio: I know little of these but they have been discussed elsewhere. Presumaby the droid adds spotter abilities.

IG-88A, B, C and D? :P

A redo of Han and Chewie as operatives in Hoth gear hunting probots.

Lando and Lobot. Not Leet. It's all about that ESB.

Zuckuss and 4-LOM.

But what I really want is Grindol Maal and Wuwuhuul. Never gonna happen though!

Maul and oppress for separatists?

Hondo/ ezra/maul for rebels

The seventh sister and 5th brother for imps

I'd rather see Zuckuss and 4LOM for the Rebels, but that's just me.

Also be cool to see Fives and Echo released as a counterpart operative set. Not quite the ARC operative I want, but better than seeing them as a squad.

How are those Counterparts?

Is there any significance to the fact that all the Counterparts we've seen so far have been droids?

Noa Briqualon & Teek

I would love to see them as operatives for both sides to fit with the EU version of them.

I think the keyword works best for droids that couldn't hold their own in the game as a single character (due to low health/low attack/support abilities only).

Ponda Baba & Dr. Evanzan

Brea & Senni Tonnika

Rancor & Rancor Keeper

While I'm dreaming, I want FFG to make a Willow miniatures game that's in the same rough rules set, and the same price point etc, as SW: Legion. I actually think the Legion rules would capture the feeling of that film better.

It seems to me you are all missing one point:

C3po and R2D2 are counterparts because they are described exactly that way in A New Hope by c3po itself.

Of the ones mentioned above I think only Iden Versio and D10 or maybe chirrut imwe and baze malbus havevthe same status

DependableFittingAmericanratsnake-size_r

Embo and Marrok.

For many years I thought he said "counterbot" which made sense, like paired off robots with opposite skill sets was an institutionalized way of doing business. However I think the discussion is fueled more by the alleged leaks of other Counterparts.

Loved Willow except for the parts with Willow. Madmartigan defending the castle against Trolls and dragons and a whole squad of Balmora's guards was awesome. I also liked the part up in the mountains with the freedom fighters.

If you listen to the classic npr star wars radio play, that is exactly the relationship between artoo and threepio.

I sent Warwick Davis a 1300 word fan letter. I am the only person I know that collects Willow merch.

If you look at the op's examples none of them are any better or worse (If you actually paid attention to tcw or rebels)
