Disabled Power Coupling vs VCX

By Ccwebb, in X-Wing Rules Questions

VCX gets Disabled Power Coupling as a crit. Next round the VCX gets a ion token. However, since 3 ions are needed to ionize a large base ship, nothing happens until next round.

Could this scenario keep going until the VCX gets 3 ion tokens and clears them the ion effect?

That's precisely correct!

When a ship has a number of ion tokens that is less than its required number to be considered "ionized," it goes about its merry way... but this damage card keeps dishing out extra tokens, round after round. Eventually, it'll get enough tokens to be ionized; you just want to make sure that a one-straight maneuver won't put you into a disastrous place right then.

Yep, that's exactly how that card is suppose to work. Its designed so that any ship its on, *will* eventually be forced to perform an ion maneuver. Larger ships just take longer. Actually, thats how all the damage cards work. Every crit should in some way, always affect a ship, no matter what ship it is. (lessons learned from the first damage deck where some crits just didnt affect you at all).

However if for whatever reason you perform an ion maneuver (cannon or turret attack), the Crit flips down. Two separate clauses on the card.
