Hi, I just got Star Wars Legion original core set. My LGS sold me “Humbrol - Precision Poly Cement” based on my criteria that I wanted a glue that would:
1. Work for Legion minis
2. Would be a little forgiving before drying (it’s my first time assembling minis)
3. Would be efficient.
Did I buy the right thing? Thank you!
I don't believe that's the glue you want. That's a plastic glue for a specific type of plastic -- the original core set is a different 'soft plastic' that won't work with this. You want a normal super glue for the original core set. If you were gluing together the droid army you'd be set though! Legion is slowly switching over to the hard plastic this is used for.
I don't think it'll work on the vehicles either, though I admittedly have not tried it.
That probably won’t work. I would use cheap dollar store super glue.
No offense to your LGS but to me this feels like you’re better off getting most of your hobby stuff at a big chain art store like Michael’s, AC Moore, etc.
I usually stick with krazy glue. holds well enough for most things and for no more than needs to be held with the great connections here, more than enough and leaves you more $ to get other models.

Buy any brand of cyanocrylate hobby or super glue...the poly cement wIll only work (melt) the hard plastic, will be ineffective on the soft plastic. It will NOT work on the soft first core plastic set. Keep it for your clones droid when you get those (the ones on a spruce that are clipped off). You will visually determine in a few seconds how the plastic model kit “glue” works when it goos up the plastic to create a meld.
As the others have said, you'll want super glue for your initial core set. I'd recommend LockTite gel control, though really any super glue will work. What you have will work great for the Droids, but not for anything else (yet).
