Kraznys and Lord Doran's Chambers

Lord Doran's Chambers

You may choose to play Lord Doran's Chambers as an attachment to your House card.

Kraznys Mo Nakloz

Challenges: If it is Summer, choose an opponent's attachment in play. Pay that attachment's printed gold cost to take control of that attachment, and attach it to a card of your choice.

Could I take control of Lord Doran's Chambers and attach it on one of my character with Kraznys ?

I would say yes. And here is my reasoning.

Once Chambers are attached to House card, they become an attachment. And they stay as an attachment until the card leaves play.

The part "to your House card" is only a play restriction if you want to play Chambers as an attachment. This restriction applies only at the time the card is played but is not applicable after.

So Kraznys effect would allow me to take control of the Chambers and attach them to any card that can receive attachments.

By default, attachments can only be attached to characters, so I think I not only could but would have to attach the Chambers to a character.

Am I wrong?

No. You cannot move it to one of your characters.

This is the error in your reasoning. Attachment restrictions that use the form "play on X" must still always be true. It's even in the FAQ:

(3.20) Attachment Restrictions
Any attachment that has a restriction (such as
"Lord or Lady only" or "attach to an opponent's
character"
) is immediately discarded
from play at any time that restriction is not
met, regardless of immunity. Such restrictions
are constant effects, and the attachment should
be immediately discarded any time a restriction
is not met.

For example: Tom has played the card
Motley (Core Set B67) on Kris's House Tully
Recruiter (Core Set S21). Motley has the text:
"Attach to an opponent's character." Later in
the game, Tom uses Seductive Promise (Core
Set T175) to take control of the House Tully
Recruiter. Because the Recruiter is no longer
"an opponent's character" from the perspective
of Tom's Motley card, Motley is immediately
discarded from play."

Here is the flaw in your reasoning, BTW. Attachments can only be attached to characters by default. This is a constant requirement of the rules of the game, right? That would therefore mean there has to be a constant effect allowing an attachment to be on something other than a character. If the "you may play LDC as an attachment on your House Card" was only a restriction to play the card from your hand, there would be no constant effect allowing it to stay on your House card once played. It would be discarded almost immediately after being played. Since it is not, the "play" restriction must also be a constant attachment restriction. It is therefore still active while it is in play, and must be taken into account if you use Kraznys to steal it.

Kraznys can take control of an opponent's LDC, and he can move it to your own House card. He cannot move it to a character.

Thanks for your explanation ktom.

I have another couple of questions about Kraznys and Banner for the Storm:

First, if Banner for the Storm is attached to an opponent's character, what is the printed cost of this card that I must pay to use Kraznys effect?

And I would like to be confirmed that I could attach Banner for the Storm to any character, not only Baratheon one.

(It's a real pity that tzumainn is now down because all these questions would have really fit on Kraznys card page).

The printed cost of the card is 3. Doesn't matter whether it is an attachment or a character - the "printed cost icons" in the upper left corner says "3."

Yes. The restriction of attaching it to a Bara character is part of the triggered effect that turns the character into an attachment. It is not a constant effect of the attachment itself. If the effect said "...as a Banner attachment with the text 'Baratheon character only. Attached character gains Vigilant'," THEN it could only ever attach to a Bara character. As is, it can be moved to any character, even though its own attaching effect can only put it on a Bara character to begin with.

Thanks again for the answers.
