Dedicated first order player preparing for the next round of trials. There’s been a lot of discussion on the forum about good FO lists of late and one of the shining lights for the faction at the moment is the SF swarm.

It’s undoubtably good but I also find it slightly dull. Watching Poe and three A Wings on stream, the penny dropped... can’t the FO do that better?

You drop two SF and put in a Silencer. What’s great is that the squad is massively customisable.

Kylo or Blackout?

Passive sensor missiles or gunner or optics?

Zetas or Omegas?

A quick glance on Metawing even suggests this archetype has had some success already with the following;

Blackout w/ fanatical and optics

3 x Omega Experts w/ munitions failsafe, cluster missiles, passive sensors.

How would you load out the squad? I’m expecting Jedi and swarms in the trials, so clusters could be handy and 7 arcs is nice. This also gives you a tank ace to go toe to toe with ace lists.

Kylo with 3 Zetas, all with Passive Sensors and Concs, seems MEAN.

And thematically similar to Poe and As

Throwing a silencer in the mix certainly makes for an enjoyable afternoon of Xwing. They are a joy to fly.

The cool thing about the SF is that they are super customizable. Zetas with AO is the solid budget option. Omegas can do whatever they want. SF gunner gives you a decent joust, and missiles make them better-than-TIE bombers if-we-don't-think-about-barrage-rockets. Fanatical is a toss-up, Shave points with crack if you want. FCS is garnish. You do you, boo.

Cluster missiles. Shooting out the front or back means in the scrum, you're more than likely to get the 1-2 punch, but it tends to be a flurry of wet noodles. There's probably a cute list to be cobbled together with hux and a few of these, but we're still awaiting a cheaper support option the other factions have over the cost prohibitive shuttle (put a white dot on every shuttle. Reduce their cost. Problem solved (crowdsource the printing of white dot stickers to ship to the Xwing world. We can do this. LIMITED is the future of xwing. Fixes "everything"). ) .

In my ongoing HS practice with First Order, tried a game with Kylo (AdvOpt + Hate), two Zetas (Passive Sensors, Cluster Missiles) and Scorch (with Fanatical).

Played only the one game, since I've been focusing on QD and Two Silencers, but it looked surprisingly fun and mildly effective. I hadn't tried SFs with ordnance yet, and Passive Sensors is a nice trick to pull with the lowly Init2 Zetas.

Now wondering if this would merit additional reps, or if I should just stick with the other lists. Decisions, decisions...

That’s a good list! Given the small ship pool, I really feel FO are quite exciting to build with because everything is competitive.

What build are you looking at with QuickDraw and the Silencers? That’s definitely a list I want to try again.

The other list is:

QD with Fanatical/FCS/Gunner/Pattern Analyzer/Afterburners

First Order Test Pilot w/ Fanatical/AdvOptics x2

It's the one I have most reps with, and have been enjoying playing quite a lot, especially after a somewhat disappointing stint with Republic.

I'd start with 3 Optics Zetas + Kylo if it fits.

Adjust Kylo to taste, and then maybe swap out 1 of the SFs for a named FO and you're golden.

I was wondering about PA on the Silencers instead, and not on QD. For another thread anyway I guess.

I'd say it's a pretty valid choice as well, so definitely worth trying.

But I've also found AdvOptics to be remarkably consistent.

The mistake that you make when you compare SFs with RZ2s is that you don't realize that the SFs don't have boost, and that matters a lot. However, i do believe that the SFs have their niche, but i don't have the hours with them to know what that is. My guess is that it's just efficient beef,so putting a Silencer with a Spam of cheap SFs seems like the best way to take this archetype
