Oh no, I'm getting confused. I was reading it as 4 rounds but it was actually 5?! I didn't think standard format was to do 5 rounds with only 18 players. We were due to have 5 rounds in UK Nationals but it was cut down to 4 as we had less than 50 players.

Your answer is, its not a Standard Format.

Its Technically well over 50 players, but it just happens to be spread over 2 days. Which is why they effectively Top-8 the lot (Its actually Top 2 Each day, then the next top 4 overall between both days).

Where did the 5 SSD end?

I came in 4th on day 1, the rest were 11th, 17th, and 18th.

And the 5 rounds on day 1 are for the right compare for day 1 and 2, correct?
Both days need to do the same rounds, or it is not possible to get the top 4 from both days?

Are so much more player expected on day 2?

That's correct. Day 1 and Day 2 are separate heats, 5 rounds each.

And from what I understand, there was over 30 registered for the Friday. Its harder for people to get time off on Thursdays before Labour Day.

Why stunned? Can't run ISDs if you're using Rieekan...

Only 4 Rebels in a list of 18 players? Again, only day one, so I'm sure we'll see more Rebels in play today. But given that the majority of major tournaments have been won by Rebel players (and GenCon just saw no ISDs crack the top cut), yeah, I'm really surprised to see that kind of data from day one.

NoVA has always been extremely Imperial.

What is Matt Ansley running? I’m surprised that he was able to get a 10-1 against Jeremy’s Dictor (I assume) list. Really interesting game, I’m sure.

I 10-1’d him. Jeremy was the Borg Dictor/Quasar/Goz/eight zillion squads list. I’m planning a detailed write up but long story short my Arq went long around him and was pummeling him too much to afford to let it keep shooting. This meant the squads got sent there (other option was she would have solo’d the Quasar and bugged out), letting Chimaera kill the wounded Quasar and set up the Interdictor for Demo to tackle. Pics are on the NOVA FB page, they’ll also go in my write up.

My list was my Chimaera/Demo/Arq LMSU.

Is it just me or is NOVA also typically less squad heavy than other tournaments? A squadless Raddus fleet won last year IIRC?

If you say so. Day 2 is much more the balance I was expecting. And I've only been to Nova once, and maybe I'm just misremembering, but last year felt more balanced than yesterday, that's all.
