Lead the Attack - Republic Y-Wing preview
Release Date of September 13th!
Yay c3po seems fun on Arcs!
Nice Ahsoka pic.
Anakin is the same as older Anakin, not kiddo Ani (barrel rolling fat Y would also been absurd).
Chopper is hilarious, and thematic.
Matchstick, rofl, (s)he is on fire with red tokens.
Broadside looks good, however Ini3. Still, together with right squad mates, solid.
Precognitive reflexes, wtf? Do we really need another supernatural?
R2D2 seems good, as the enemy easily gets behind with such a bad dial! And with C3PO on board, AAALLL the calculates.

R2-D2 and "Matchstick" are good ! The rest not really fan !
R2-D2 with C3-PO is a standard build I guess.
Edited by Arkanta974Precog is what Supernatural should have been. Having both is nonsensical, though it may see play as it has some other limitations that can make it a bit cheaper.
Broadside looks fun to run with. Matchstick maybe, the challenge is clearing all that stress.
I’d like to know which comes first, paying the force cost of foresight or measuring to see if eligible by being in bullseye. Is it wasted force if you can’t perform the attack? I’d assume so.
3PO is going on my ARCs for sure. Point dependent I may throw Chopper on a cheap blocker to try and have all the jam shenanigans.
Ahsoka is good. Anakin is ... well, I’m not so sure.

Remember Han Gunner?
What if it was any friendly ship out to range 3, and they could even clear the stress with a blue the same turn? And what if when you didn't use it, it was a force point?
So the Red Squadron bomber seems to imply that the Republic used these Y wings at the battle of Geonosis. My impression was that when Anakin and Shadow Squadron flew them in TCW, this was one of the ships' first missions. Were there older models of Y wings used at Geonosis that Red Squadron became experienced with? Sorry to be this guy, but I just can't help myself sometimes...
More importantly, I'm really hoping for a broadly disseminated extended art Ahsoka gunner. Chopper seems like it will love Padme and some of the N-1s with Juke and there are a lot of cards here I'm excited to try on my Arcs. A couple of interesting force abilities as well!
So the Republic Y-Wing has a crew slot? Interesting, though there aren't many crew that could go on it at the moment. The rest of it looks fairly decent but for some reason I just can't get all that excited about a chunky Y-Wing.

Weren't they st the second battle of Geonosis? Or am I misremembering?

My memory is that this wasn't long after the first, but it's been a while. Maybe we can table this discussion until Disney + (unless a timeline of the clone wars exists?).

Yeah, she’s going to be expensive. But I think she will be good at 12-14 points still. At least I am willing to try her in a list at that cost.

Yeah, the clone wars series doesn't really go in order, is the problem.
Can we replace Oddball with a single-pip unnamed Clone? Doesn't need an ability, just an I5 pilot who *isn't* Oddball? It's getting a little repetitive now.

Han is 12... I'm guessing 14 is still a pretty low floor. If you put this in a list with CLT jedi things could get pretty bad.

This will likely just be on R2-D2, who would have an empty seat while flying from the astromech slot.
Is it just me, or is odd ball getting a little... out of hand. Dont get me wrong i can see how his ability can come into play.... at times. but literally what ships WONT this guy be on?
that being said, im excited to lay down a huge mine field with goji and then dare my opponents to come in and get me.
also we have just seen the death of supernatural instincts. as FFG raises its price to death, then comes out with a similar assumably cheaper version.

Granted I don't know if its official but people have made some chronological lists of the episodes and on it the Malevolence episodes are really early in it and the second invasion of Geonosis is a bit after it.
Also its cool to get a release date.

General thinking is that only the R2-D2 pilot has a crew slot, since he can fly from the astromech-socket

Of course, hadn't thought of that! Good catch.
QuoteWhere Rebel engineers valued the extra speed and maneuverability that came with stripping away the Y-Wing's layers of armor, the Republic version trades this speed for a thick hide that makes it highly resiliant to critical damage.
In which way is the shown dial worse than the original y-wing dial??
Just now, KaLeu said:In which way is the shown dial worse than the original y-wing dial??
It's the same as the original 1e Y Wing dial.
The 2e one has blue one banks.
I just can't see the utility of all those pilots and upgrades relying on red tokens or giving you red actions on a ship with 2 (two) blue maneuvers on its dial. Member Sresshog? I member. You had one shot, two in a miraculous circumstances, because a double-stressed Y-wing is out of the game for all intents and purposes.
Anakin I guess could be used as an alpha strike piece with lock + force?
Broadside is cool, I like turret Y-wings.
Edited by eMeMThose are some brilliant pilot abilities.
Not saying they're necessarily super strong or competitive, just really creative and very fun sounding.
Broadside is fantastic. I can't believe it's taken this long to get a pilot that gets bonuses for having his turret in an arc that isn't the front, it seems like such an obvious niche in hindsight.
Matchstick is going to be really solid. Any red token means it works when he's locked. And you can lock friendly ships by default in second edition...
Get a buddy with R3 astromech, put one lock on Matchstick first round and you're laughing.
That dial is all kinds of bad, though. Is the most maneuvers that would be affected by R4 we've seen on a dial? If so, it's going to make that astro slot really competitive. A good thing, IMO.
Only thing I'm not so taken with is Chop. Is anyone ever going to spend that second charge? Seems like way too much of a penalty for an ability that's really not that great (double stressing for an evade? Really?)

R4 Astromech, and ships that aren't Y-Wings
