The "announcing" articles usually come out around the first week of the month, with a couple of exceptions. An article next week makes sense. I think the Luke and Vader operatives were an exception.

Can't disagree with most of what you said. I think Claudia Grey may have the best books so far in this new canon. I find the Thrawn books are really good, but seem just a bit small stakes for such an important character. I loved how Tarkin took huge chunks out of the EU and made them canon.......... was that the only book that has done that so far?

As for books I flat out did not like I can only think of really two: Last Shot and Phasma. (special MVP for From a Certain Point of View the only book that made me feel like I was on acid)

Besides that the books, comics, and **** even miniature games (go Starhawk!) are fine and often connect well together. The video games......................... not so much.

True. But I'm picturing two announcement articles: one for these 2 commander expansions and one for the escape pod and droids. Kinda like August having an article for corps upgrades and an article for the bunker. There's just so much coming out!

Very true. I would suspect some indication that it was false (by way of a different preview? maybe) if it weren't true. It seems like good enough info that it's probably true.

I believe tarkins included so much EU because it was one of the first books to come out after the Disney deal and was being written even before the Disney deal was finalized (could be wrong about that). Totally agree with u about last shot, was not the greatest book, currently my least favorite book of the new cannon.

I tend to disagree. There have been some absolutely stupid stories, and the non-canon material was never supposed to make sense, but most issues can be explained away in context. For instance, dropping a moon on Chewie seems absolutely silly, but works great in the story, fits the over-the-top nature of the villains, and is later used to explain things.

Eh, depends on when you're talking about. He seemed to abandon the Rule of Two during the Dark Empire era, but I tend to agree with Mara Jade that what ever the Emperor Reborn was, it wasn't really the Emperor. Something like only part of him made the transition, and that's why he began acting increasingly crazy through those comics. Before Endor, he certainly seems to have stuck to the Rule of Two.

The first and second Thrawn books were good, the second one was meh. Would have made for a decent short story or novella, but not something the length it was. The Battlefront books were OK, as was Tarkin, but that's about as far as I'll go with them. Lost Stars was surprisingly good, if a little simplistic. Haven't heard anything good about Dark Disciple before now, and since I wasn't a fan of TCW's take on Vos, I doubt I'll care for it. I've given up on the ST era, so Bloodlines just holds no interest for me. I might have to give Master and Apprentice a shot at some point, but it'd have to fight my nostalgic attachment to the Jedi Apprentice Series, and that's just unfair.

The Aftermath books... jeez, those were terrible. The first one **** near killed my interest in the Disney timeline even before Ep. VII, and the next two were even worse. The only salvageable character from the bunch was Sloane, and even then, the last book kinda just treats her like trash. Don't even get me started in how Wedge was treated in that terrible series. I really think they should have gone with a better author to handle their first foray into the EU, ideally Zahn, but really anyone else could have done it better. What we got was just bad, on the level of the crap that made me stop reading new SW books a decade + ago, if not worse.

With so many years of EU and the sheer amount of stories it was so easy to skip the real crap ones. **** I spent a good 5 years just reading stories on Boba Fett. Some were good, some were bad, and most contradicted each other. The reboot should have been the chance to just steal all the great stories, ideas, and characters into a story that flowed better.

That may be the worse part of the new canon now, the wasted opportunity all over the places. EU had the war pretty much never ending, but canon has it ending in less then a year............ Lol need to find some balance.

Looking at everything that's canon so far I think the best thing may still be the Clone Wars TV series? A series that ran over almost all of the EU (even the other clone wars TV show) and stole many ideas and changed stuff on just spite. (Korriban into Moraband lol)

The mouse may turn out bad for Star Wars, but George Lucas did some crazy things and the new canon/old EU is safe from him.

Here's the problem. On a scale of 1 to 10, your idea of a 10 is usually someone else's idea of a 1. But we all tend to agree on the 4-6's. While we'll turn off a 1, we'll all pretty much tolerate a 5. This is why mediocre tv and radio is the norm.

Ahhhh I knew these forums were filled with people of culture. My favorite is a story I have no idea is true or not. My friend says he read how Boba Fett somehow got the Death Star plans and he passed it to the Rebles since he owned someone lol. It is the EU so why not!

If cassien and iden are the two new units I hope they tie them into future shows or books. The mouse gave armada the first look of the Starhawk and the design of the laser cannon we see in 9. That's some agressive cross product promotion that they should keep up!

She is super loyal to the Empire up until they destroy her home planet in Operation Cinder. Funny enough in her book she only takes down a partisan cell and some corrupt Imperials. The game she does kill a lot of Rebels tho. So I can see giving her.

My real question is what will they do with the rest of Infernal Squad? The other three members are all unique and we have not yet seen them commit to limiting people to one unit of special forces.

Exactly. She has fought pretty much the entire war with the Empire so I don't see an issue for her inclusion into the Empire faction. I see less of a problem with her than with Jyn that fought only one battle with the Rebellion and have never met Luke, Han or Leia (in battle at least).

As for the inclusion of the rest of Inferno Squad, if they decide to include them, I could see Hask as a Commander and Del and Seyn as Operative.... but I personally don't think that they will include them into the game... too many other choice available *cough* Second Sister *cough*.

I would love a 4 mini Operative/Commander box for each faction, with 1 commander that can also be taken as an operative, but the operative version can be a taken with the 3 other minis as counter parts. With the Empire having Inferno squad, the Rebels having the remaining ghost crew, the CIS having... I don't know, really... and the Republic having Delta squad.

Here's an idea this just gave me: a CIS commander unit, consisting of 3 council members of lesser importance (since I expect several of them might show up as individual commanders at some point). The base unit mini would start very cheap, maybe 60-70 points, with the other minis adding maybe 20 points or so to the cost, plus of course abilities, wounds, etc. Now, what I think would make it really interesting is if each character had 1 command card, so if you wanted to run all three command card you would need all 3 minis. But you could cut stuff to save points if you wanted.

Maybe CIS could have Bounty Hunters, Cad Bane as the boss man, then the lady bounty hunter, the frisbee head, and the Big ol Robo dude.

Embo worked for the CIS at least twice iirc. Once was with Moralo Eval kidnapping plot. Which is a great arc with that big twist showing the first time Papa Palp tried to have Dooku killed and turn Anakin to the dark side. Second time was the pretty bad Clovis arc when he work directly under the Senate.

Aurra Sing and C-21 Highsinger I am pretty sure they never work for the CIS, but it has been a really long time since I last watched the Clone Wars........................ Sing does work for Darth Maul before TPM, but I don't think that would count.

I am also in the Cad Bane camp over Jango Fett camp. They pretty much would run the same so it will be interesting to see which way FFG goes. GAR/CIS will only get 3 operatives in the next year and one will be a former commander (my money is on Ventress). So come on Cad Bane and Embo!!

I completely forgot abut those, I recently watched the Felucia episode where they fight hondo's gang, and I thought that Lem was talking about the bounty hunters(obviously the "frisbee head" has to be Embo) from there.

Eh, both probably have their positives and negatives. Jango should actually be in-between Sabine and Boba, since Jango has two guns, but a few more mando tricks - though he has some distinct ones from Boba too - like a saberdart. I mostly would prefer Jango for potential Bounty Hunter references.
