Genesys Foundry Questions

By Johan Marek Phoenix Knight, in Genesys

I’ve recently been working on updating and revamping my old OmniSphere settings, and I was just finishing up with the urban fantasy one when I found out about the Genesys Foundry. I’ve looked at the Foundry site, but it doesn’t seem to say much about what stuff is allowed. Can I put something I’ve made on GM Binder into the Foundry, or does it need to be some other type of document? How exactly does this work?

The basic info can be found right here . And of course there's the content guidelines you have to follow.

And, if you decided to go through with publishing on Foundry, there's the nice and long content agreement contract you have to agree to that spells out what you can and cannot do and what you're able to use and not use. There is no direct link to the content agreement, and it's pretty long, so I can't link it nor will I copy/paste here. Besides, it's mainly just the legalities of what the content guidelines say in more plain English.

The long and short of it is this: you can use the Genesys name, mechanics, symbols and rules. Heck, you can even make supplements for both Terrinoth and Android!

There's a lot of assets you can use, including art and an InDesign template. @drainsmith has a template for Affinity Publisher if you don't want to shell out the cash every month to Adobe. But honestly, while GM Binder is OK for home-use I honestly don't think you'll get a lot of sales because it's not a professional publishing platform and the lack of quality will be quite evident to those thinking about purchasing it.

But don't fret! There are a handful of people here who have the tools, talent and time to help you out (or even do it for you, perhaps) if you don't want to do the layout yourself.

As to your question of how it works, it's pretty simple. You make a thing. Turn it into a PDF. Click the button on DTRPG to add it to foundry. Set it up: page count, price, author, artist(s) if any, any collaborators, etc. Click Publish.

Then don't forget to advertise your new thing! Tell people here, talk about it on the Good Facebook Group , reddit, discord, etc. Let us know you did an amazing thing!
