Invictus [ the invincible SSD ]

Hi all, long time reader, first time posting. If any of you know Jukey, i would be the rag doll he beats on a regular basis to test his sometimes infuriating yet effective tactics. One such interaction was this last game. We played alternating intiative (he had odd, I had evens) with no objective; Basically a death match. We each brought a two 600 point fleet with different admirals. I brought Reeiken and Ackbar:

For the imperial build you'll have to wait for Jukey to post unfortuately. The game was significant because of the amount of damage I could absorb and still fail to live long enough to take out the SSD. In all I removed 30 hull of damage with the repair buffs and 15 hull with reinforced blast doors. His last two ships had four hull left before I was boarded.

Hello, I mostly do Runewars batreps, but here is me potentially starting over here in Armada.

For some background @Narcaustic and I have been playing since the game came out. Over the years, we have always enjoyed doing a big oversized deathmatch when something new comes out.

We went 1200 pts, made of 2 fleets, with a gentlemens agreement of no squads due to time constraints (and possibly narcaustics fear of bloated Sloane-balls)

So... it begins.

Round 1.

On round 1, with ozzels speed boost and Jerjys tight turns, I shoved the SSD straight into the midst of Narcaustics Ackbar force.

I did this to cut his fleet in half, preventing concentrated repeating shots in one hull zone.

The rest of my fleet moves out to perform pincer encircling attacks. I figure an ABT and a Vic gunship should be enough to contend with the Rieekan liberty force.

My SSD escort force (the red ships in the corner) swings a little wide, I was concerned about the SSD back end power sliding in unpredictable ways.

Round 2.

I'm finding that the SSD is a bit scary to fly at speed 2, unless its piloted by Jerjerrod. He makes it a walk in the park.

A tight spin on the SSD brings it out of the Hornets nest it stuck its nose into. It takes some heavy hits from the wall of mc80s, but gives back equally hard. It really wants those escort ships stuck in the corner still.

The AvengerBT squares off against the 3 liberty row, but takes some hits on the way in. That flank is not looking good.

Round 3.

Palpatine arrives on the scene in the red ISD and finishes off the mc75 just before it delivers a full payload into the SSD, that was a close one!

More Jerjy turns keep me maneuvering around the mc80s, but that side is losing shields fast, and with the mon cal wolverine effect going strong, I'm not leaving much of a mark.

I pull the Avenger strike...and fail to kill a liberty. The whole flank goes down.

The liberties are hurting, but have plenty of time to repair.

The remaining vic gets too close and starts bumping the SSD. Oops.

Round 4.

Ackbar gets blown to fish bits this round, which lessens the blows from the other two mc80s still standing.

The SSD takes a daring turn straight for the edge of the board. This leaves the last 2 '80s cut off and surrounded by the escort force that finally has gotten into position.

Round 5.

Palpatine ISD takes down both weakened mc80s.

The SSD makes a sharp turn to dodge away from the liberties, and avoid boarding itself.

Ackbar whole fleet is down, but the SSD is half dead, this is close!

Round 6.

Round 6 was a bit uneventful.

We counted everything up. I had a 6/5 win by 24 pts.

We decided to go into overtime, battling to the death.

Bonus round 1 (7).

I knock out a liberty, and bring the mc30 to 1 hp, than do a jerjy turn to ram the mc30...and rieekan goes down.

The other two liberties become mired in a punching match with an ISD and a Vic looking the wrong way.

The SSD is up to 26 damage. Things are getting very dicey.

Bonus round 2 (8).

The ISD limps away from the two wrecks of liberties with 4 hp remaining.

Redemption (Neb) puts 3 more damage into the SSD (up to 29!)

Due to redemptions approach angle, I can only shoot it in the face, so it lasts the round.

The SSD still stands!

I have to say, the Executor 2 varient is an insane beast of a ship. The smaller variants are pretty reasonable, but this is a whole different kind of monster!
