Star wars legion campaign?

By Icelom, in Star Wars: Legion

I am looking for a campaign style game that has some kind of hero or army progression.

Something like you start with a generic commander and after a game you can add a perk like a new weapon or keyword. Or something similar like you start with only core set units and earn currency to unlock new units to be available to build your next army.

Is there anything like this? I have looked but can't find anything.

Thanks.

as of right now no, but leave it to ffg to develop it later on. or create your own using the stuff from armada or IA

Nothing yet, but you can definitely develop one on your own. I've played with ideas for Armada inspired by Heros of the Attari Cluster from X-wing. I haven't tried anything with Legion yet. There is the Downed AT-ST scenario plus more to come to play around with.

Hi Icelom - f you search for “RPG/progression Ruleset” posts started by Big Easy within the Star Wars: Legion community posts here (a few months ago IIRC) and skip the cartoons/Disney/Netflix etc. chatter and unrelated marketing threads you will find some great ideas to start you off...look forward to what you come up with.

One of the guys in the x wing directed me to this page. It should be relevant and easily converted to legion. It includes escalation rules which pretty much matches what your talking about.

What my group is planning to do it combine x wing and legion to form a comprehensive campaign where planets and systems are won through use of both games (Not really enough money or time to include armada). Used hex paper to make a large map and typed up the main references and sheet to keep track of who has what and have it on a large cork board board with map pins. You could also have one set on a single planet fighting for it as well. Whatever you do, I'd sit and work it out with your other players to hash out details.

Thanks for your input...can someone put the link to RPG /prog ression R uleset” p o s ts started by Big E a s y for the original poster as they are interested in IA style progression. I wish my tab was operating more effectively.

Thanks for your input evil inc...the community likes that positive approach to existing content.

The link I provided includes escalation rules which pretty much matches what your talking about. Most of us here in the community try to provide a warm and welcoming environment to all players. For those who are starting, escalation leagues are a good way to build up a collection from scratch where you only have to worry about painting a unit or two at a time while still playing. I've seen that work well in other wargames.

I believe someone made a Lothal campaign a while back (may have been what Gengisharn was referring too, though maybe they meant something else). It looks like it does have some rudimentary rules for upgrades; I've had it in the back of my mind as I prepare to get into Clone Wars (would really like to run a campaign set on my custom world).

Hopefully that helps; it looks fun, and should be easy enough to convert to a different world. Changing from Galactic Civil War to Clone Wars might be tricky (if that's your fancy), but I'm sure it's doable, and the rules present likely serve as a good foundation for fair modification.

I think it was the guys at Impact X that had exactly what you’re looking for, but it looks like it’s all gone. They got folded into Imperial Discipline , but it doesn’t look like the articles they had on that were included. You might be able to inquire with them if they are going to repost that content. There are still some articles up describing the campaign. It was called Gathering Legions. Not sure why it was lost/died. I was going to try it myself, but never got the time.

Edit: Here is a small blurb that can be found if you do a google search for it, but the link is defunct.

Gathering Legions is an alternative campaign mode for Star Wars: Legion that includes character building, growth, and narrative mission play. In Gathering Legions each player controls a small group of heroic units that...”

Double post, but I found this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1637281356&searchtext=

I’ll edit this post if I find more.

The Impact X announcement where they will be included in Imperial Discipline , and someone asks about the campaign, but no reply.

And an interview with the creator where he talks about his campaign.

This is probably the the best blurb I found where it explains a bit about the campaign and that Nick Freeman was the author, but beyond that you’ll have to ask around to find out if it’s still being developed or will be posted somewhere. Let us know if you have any luck. I still wanted to try it myself.

There IS a post titled “RPG/progression Ruleset ” and just came out of it...upgrades points allocated for units and leaders...very clever. I just simple cannot work out how to link sorry. Maybe this Legionforum is becoming unwieldy and needs a separate heading for off topic or campaign variants etc. JediPartisan impact x reference also rings a bell...

Oh harp. Now I have to adapt the A Time For Silence campaign to SW:L.

Based on what I have seen the downed ATST, the Bunker and the escape pod all feel like mini campaigns. Still armada has two so we definitely could get one

Nick discontinued it when he left Legion. I was the one who moved our other impact X articles to Imperial Discipline - but he kept that stuff for future use and took it off the website for good.

That’s too bad, both Nick leaving and removing that content. The campaign looked good and the Legion community will miss his creativity. 😥

Yeah, it was good. We had a lot of fun testing it via TTS. Some of those custom units were freakin sweet.

I mean this is pretty much what Imperial Assault is based around. You might pick up a cheap copy and play it a couple times for some ideas.

I'd check out the Border Princes campaign in one of the appendixes of the Warhammer 6th Ed rulebook... Don't have my copy in front of me but I do recall that it featured maps and escalation of available troops.

Have you played Imperial Assault?

- - - it's a progressive campaign system game set in the Star Wars universe made by FFG.

You take on missions and open or unlock new skills and weapons

kind of exactly what you just described. There's no reason you couldn't use Legion figures if you wanted.

Yes, but imperial assault use different rules from Legion (not so different, but still)

I have tried imperial assault and found it a bit one sided and clumsy.

What i was looking for was the same game play as legion but the characters/units become upgraded or available as you play more games.

Thanks everyone for your input i will go through what was posted here.
