Maps for epic

By LUZ_TAK, in X-Wing Epic Play

Any good suggestions for maps to be downloaded and printed for epic format? I understand they are to be twice in size as standard, right?

I so much want one with Scarif gate plus Death Star I...

1.0 epic (which was similar to 100v100 X-wing but with triple points and huge ships added) was. 2.0 epic (2-8 players with points per player and what is available to each player for their lists depending on scenario) map play area size is going to depend on the scenario. The example 2.0 Epic game that FFG streamed on thurs was on a 3x3 play mat.

I see... might as well wait.

Bottom left corner: "1st Hungarian National Championship"

So roughly 3'x3'.

I could barely read that in the map's corner..

So, assuming some scenarios will be on 6'x3' areas, anyone has a good image to download and print?

That Scarif mat looks awesome btw...

I don’t have any images, but I do know some vendors that sell 6x3 space themed game mats.

I am waiting to see the epic scenarios but I’m sure I’ll need one. Once I see it in print, I’ll probably end up getting one of them because I like my neoprene mats.

Personally, i am shocked they don't do a 4x4, or 5x5 for epic..

Back in the day I played some Epic on 1/2 a Table Tennis table (4.5' X 5'). We used the other half for all the cards, etc.

It got really hard to reach to the middle to move or measure ranges and arcs. We ended up bumping half the other stuff trying to lean and reach the thing we were moving or measuring. As much as I hate to say it, 6 X 3 is probably the best for most games over standard points.

But it sure looked cool on that table.

They just confirmed that Epic and Huge ships can be played in both 3x3 and 6x3 areas; some scenarios will call for specific areas.

Do you think there's much call for non-rectangular play areas?
From my all-too-distant past playing games of Apocalypse in 40k, we seemed to find L-shaped, V-shaped or squared-off U-shaped maps much easier to use than giant rectangles, and with the fiddly-ness of executing manoeuvres and trying not to bump, really big squares/rectangles sound almost nightmarish. I suppose as long as they're still only 3xwhatever we'll still be able to reach the middle, but that does rather limit the opportunities for interesting scenarios.

Remember that Epic means one of the 11 scenarios that come in the box. They can be pretty specific. There is the one about entering the planetary atmosphere, so a map with a planet on one end is good.

As for none rectangle maps, casual can mean anything!!! Go crazy.

I'm still looking for a nice, generic space in can print int 6x3 canva... having Scarif on a side of it would be awesome of course.
