The Mandalorian

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in Star Wars: Legion

Wow, something made by Disney that doesn't try to pretend the prequels didn't exist. Shocking, I didn't know they could do that.

Snark aside, I wonder if the droid gunship and B2s are from a flash back sequence to the titular character's childhood. He's old enough that he'd remember the Clone Wars, and his planet (didn't look like Mandalore) could have been invaded during the war by the CIS.

so....what neu figures for this miniature game?....what will be coming now?

I almost figured Mandalorian was hoping to illustrate a universe where warlords were all over the place and they used whatever resources they could find, sometimes old Battle droids, sometimes a legion of stormtroopers that followed their general, not necessarily the Empire. (common in the Roman era with legions following their general)

Well, they already released a book about Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan relation prior to Episode 1, a book about Padme becoming a Senator, an Audiobook about Dooku's past and Comic books called Age of the Republic that is set during the Prequels (not just the Clone Wars), so it doesn't look to me as if Disney tried to pretend as if the prequels didn't existed.

I imagine the Mandolorian himself at one point. After that,

maybe other characters like Cara or Carl weathers character down the line.

🤣

I agree. Remnants of the previous governments of the galaxy and people fighting for the scraps.

🙄 Oh lordy. You really don't waste any time jumping to Disney/LucasFilm's defense, do you? It's called hyperbole. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with it.

Yes, I'm aware of those. Most of them kinda suck, and are a pittance compared to the sheer amount of OT and ST-era crap they've put out. (Reviews for Queen's Shadow aren't good, Jedi Lost was pretty bad, and the Age of the Republic/Mace Windu: Jedi of the Republic comics were mixed at best) I'm also aware that in the Disney-era live action films have minimized references to the prequels, even when they would have worked out better than what we got. That looks to be changing, based on this and the stuff in the background for the newest flick, but it's funny how long it took for that to be the case.

Your message made it sound as if you didn’t knew those existed, just wanted to make you aware that there is content released covering this period.

Have a good day! :)

Ah, if that was your intent, I apologize for my attitude. So hard to read tone via text. As I said, I am aware of them, and actually own a few, though my opinions are clearly mixed. My statement was in regards to the lack of line blurring by Disney/LucasFilm in their live action material. The books, comics, and games have references and prequel-era ships and weapons where appropriate, but its almost completely absent from the films thus far. It's almost like there was a hard and fast rule of "X item belongs to Y era, this film is in Y, so no X" rule put into place.

And a good day to you too.

That would be cool. The Warlords-era/element was one of my favorite parts of the old EU, and I was incredibly disappointed that the new canon chose to completely scrap the idea. I'm hoping that the Stormtroopers and deathtroopers we see in this aren't just criminal bands, but are an Imperial remnant/holdout faction around a former Admiral/General/Moff.

I still expect that the B2s and droid gunships will be part of a flashback sequence however, probably for how the main character (though, possibly another character) was orphaned and ended up being raised by/trained by/became a Mandolorian.

My opinion on those are mixed too. I had a lot of expectation regarding Master & Apprentice since I love everything Claudia Grey wrote so far, but I ended up thinking it was good, but not really memorable. I have yet to read Padme's book or the Dooku one. I found Mace Windu comic boring and Age of Republic comics was hit and miss. I must say though that one of my favorite part of the Shattered Empire comics is when Leia go to Naboo and gets some feeling about the events of Episode 1. Also, I quite liked that in the Aftermath trilogy, we get to see the fate of Jar Jar.

While I agree that there is not much in the current movies that refer to the Prequels (except for Solo's ending.. is it still considered a spoiler a year later?), I don't think it was a rule or bad intention, just a matter of timing. Expect purely to serve fan service (something that I'm never really fond of since I think it's easy entertainment to get into good favor), I don't why they should have included Prequels era things in Episode 7, 8 or Rogue One. They do seems to include a B1 droid in a background in Episode 9 though. And with Disney+ coming and an Obi-Wan serie, I think that it's just a beginning. Time will tell.

I've not read Padme's book, but Dooku's was.... a thing. It had some good moments, but it had a lot of really odd story choices, and you're left thinking that the Jedi are all jerks... who are always right in the end, thus justifying their jerky attitude. I liked seeing the fate of Jar Jar, but otherwise hated the rest of Aftermath.

But, as for the films, I think that Rogue One should have/could have included more prequel references, such as the opening scene with Krennic and Deathtroopers. If he had had Phase II clones and a Republic-era uniform, I think it would have helped bridge the gap, and show his elevation in status later in the movie. I also think adding some CW-era ships to the battle would have been a nice touch, such as an ARC-170 squadron or a old Venator in the Rebel fleet. Yes, it would have been fan service, but so was including the Ghost, and that was a nice touch. Solo had much the same problem, as the early stuff should have shown CW-era weapons and armor rather than it all being Imperial era.

EDIT: And I really do want to apologize for jumping down your throat earlier. Posting before I have my morning coffee was apparently a terrible idea, and I was a jerk. Sorry about that.

No problem at all. I know that intentions and tone is too easy to misinterpret on the internet and that since english is my second language, I lack some vocabulary which force me to be more direct than I intend to to try to express my ideas.

So again, there is no problem at all! Carry on then! :P

Indulge me here,

I LOVE THIS! (link)

And

God Save Jon Favreau

When first I heard Werner Herzog say ‘parsec’ I involuntarily smilled. That was it. The Legacy Aliens, the armour and weaponry used, even the IG series compartriot, all those were great of course.

But when that bit of detail popped up on the trailer, some chemical in my brain, the same one that is semi addicted to good tequila and and which helps organize Canon Lore, swooned into my senses.

Translation: I Can’t wait for this series to begin!

I suspect the main baddie, Giancarlo Esposito I assume, is a former imperial officer that has kept some of his/other loyal soldiers by his side. I suspect he isn't really even serving the Empire anymore, just his own ends and covering them up with the guise of saving/rebuilding?

dunno. Looks fun. I love all the pieces from the universe. Droids, deathtroopers, mixtures of old and new make me happy. Makes the universe feel more "complete."

I play imperial assault, and am looking to hop into legion, but I can't help but feel disappointed that they canceled IA. The Mandalorian would have been a great expansion. But In legion we could get the HMP gunship so that's a plus...

He’s playing Moff Gideon, and was considered the 2,187th most influential person in The Empire.

With a sentient galactic population of 33 Trillion, that puts him squarely in the top 0.0000000015151515% of the food chain.

maybe he will be the new leader of the Empire as it stands. Sorta like Laura Roslin being 60 something in line for the presidency.

In canon, leadership fell to Mas Amedda, who surrendered to the New Republic shortly after the Battle of Jakku (well, technically he tried doing so before that, and they told him to come back when he had a better offer).

Best case for this guy is that he's a Imperial holdout who ignored Amedda's surrender order, and is fighting on.

Ming-Na Wen’s Star Wars Assassin from The Mandalorian

Fennec Shand. She's an assassin and elite mercenary who made her name killing for the top crime syndicates.

Plus — an exclusive teaser trailer.

Bureaucrat Mas Amedda was a fool at best. He was as clumsy as he was stupid.

In my head Canon, the real Grand Vizer remains as Sate Pestage, who was named in 1980, well before Mas Amedda, who was a figurehead.

The famous Robot Chicken skit has both of them.
