Has potential to be great.

Are they retconning Lando’s line about carbon freezings being new and untested though? I am unclear as to when this is set.

I just assumed that the process had gotten better over time and since Boba Fett enjoyed the method so much, it got expanded as a common thing to do.

Cause it could be really cool to see live-action. That said. I don't need to see it again, but I wouldn't mind it either.

The issues are the Obi-wan series seems to start seven years before Rebels does, and I don't really expect the live action choreography to do justice to the sublime duel that Rebels showed us.

Barring time jumps in the series, or the series is an anthology of Obi’s memories, I don't know if it has the potential to last 11 years/seasons to get to that point.

It probably won't get to that point, but I don't suspect every year on Tatooine has enough to keep us interested. :D

That's explained by "when this is set". Since it's after ROTJ they apparently know how to do it now. I mean it WAS Jabba's favorite decoration for a quick second, so it woulda got some major publicity.

Cant wait for this series!

Always liked the whole Mandalorian setting/characters. First time I saw Boba Fett I was like "Badness"!

Vader took 2nd place as my favorite character.

One positive thing about my sci-fi being "hip" (Yes, old I am) I get to watch all of these movies and programs that may have never been 20 years ago!

Suggestion:

FFG, consider making a mini-game of Legion called Cantina ,or, No Blasters!

Where you play a Bounty Hunter or Jedi on the Run in a Cantina (small board, printed?) and you have to escape or defeat the 6-10 models in the cantina!

Cards, in-door terrain and special models would be a good selling point!

Sounds like a homebrew Imperial Assault mission in the making!

yeah, just put some effort into Imperial Assault. They've never even supported the skirmish side of that.

Awesome footage! Thanks!

Well I think the rubber maps and the skirmish tournaments would probably count as “support”.

No, selling me something I don't need and that is readily available from just about anywhere for cheaper is not support. Most of those maps were expired according to the tournament schedule they set and didn't notify anyone about in 2-3 months, some less.

There were hardly any tournaments, and usually they wouldn't announce them until it was too late to get tickets to the event. They had World Championships a month ago and there were 19 people there because (to a large extent) FFG and the organized play ignored that this was one of their games.

Support is also having more than one person working on the game in a given year, announcing and talking about the game, etc. Legion, X-wing receive support, the skirmish side of IA never got even a sliver of that.

Honestly, the skirmish side seems tacked on.. I honestly believe that it was only included in the game because of the weird nature of the licensing Star Wars had, specifically with Hasbro and board games - miniature based were considered a separate entity, so by including the skirmish they could release the game they wanted - The Star Wars version of Descent.

I have a feeling that FFG was planning Legion for a while, and used the skirmish side of Legion for a second purpose; to make money while doing market research for Legion.

Now this is all hypothetical, but seems a logical assumption, I believe. Even if Legion wasn't being developed or bandied about during Imperial Assault’s inception, I truly believe the skirmish was not a major driving force for Imperial Assault. But, FFG saw they could make a quick buck from the players (not necessarily a condemnation, just stating a fact, as FFG is a company that is out to make money) and realized that there was a demand for a true miniatures game. With the purchasing of Lucasfilm by Disney, I believe the deal with Hasbro was altered, and FFG can now produce board games. Such as Outer Rim, Rebellion, etc.

Well, actually, if the alterations are getting us Legion, they might be a good thing after all....

did you ever play skirmish (from the get go it was tacked on, but after one expansion it turned into the best game FFG has ever released)

The galling fact is that it wouldn't have taken much to support skirmish , but they did little to nothing for years. Skirmish was way funner than Legion and could have been more profitable. But everything was geared towards the campaign instead of any skirmish focus.

Nope. Was never interested in IA, and nothing I've seen of the game has changed that assessment. Legion on the other hand, is exactly what I'm looking for in a game; I just wish the powers that be would stop focusing on heroes quite as much.

That last part isn't going to happen. When they announced the game, they specifically stated that gameplay and focus would revolve around the characters.

I wish they would focus on stuff i cared about as well

Maybe, but I distinctly remember being told a little over a year ago that a generic commander would never happen, and I was wasting time hoping for one. Fast forward to now, and I've got my generic commanders (at least for one of the factions I care about) so you never know.

You were told wrong 😀

Do we know if this is going to be a "once a week" episodic show or is it more like the netflix or Amazon series' that you can binge over a long weekend?

Weekly unfortunately. There will be no binging until all episodes drop :( that is how they keep making their money

The Mandalorian was specially mentioned a few hours ago by Andrew Navaro as source for Star Wars Legion (and other) material from Lucasfilm. It will eventually be available on non streaming format such as disk. Great way to keep ROTJ era relevant without overlap into TLJ. I have my IA IG88s ready...

I don't see how that makes them any more money. I am personally getting pretty sick off binge watching things. I find that I miss a lot and there is no anticipation.

Heroes give the most change for the buck though.

Its an alteration to your entire army for $12.95 vs spending 6x $24.95
