Critical Wounds and passing out from Stress/Fatigue

By fnord3125, in WFRP Rules Questions

I swear I've already asked this question, and if I have, I apologize. I looked around and I can't seem to find the thread where I would have asked it.

If a character has Critical Wounds exceeding his Toughness and he passes out due to getting too much Stress or Fatigue, does he die like he would have if he'd passed out from too many wounds? Or is the "check for death" rule only triggered when a character passes out from wounds that exceed the wound threshold?

i don't think the situation you have described is talked about, but i have been assuming that a "death check" only happens when someone exceeds their wound threshold.

I think a KO is a KO, so you need to watch out for your stress/fatigue level when you have more critical hits than Toughness.

"a character is knocked unconscious once he has suffered a number of wounds greater than his wound threshold. As soon as a character is knocked unconscious in this manner, his player randomly selects one of the character's normal wounds and turns it face up, converting it into a critical wound" (63). at which point if his crits exceed (To) then he is dead. if a guy passes out from strain there is no crit flipping and no counting. your character actually starts to rest and recover. but, i could be wrong. there is only one way to know for certain...

"As soon as a character is knocked unconscious in this manner ," (emphasis mine) would indicate that you only check for a fatality when exceeding wounds, not when when you fall unconscious due to stress or fatigue.
