In the Radical's Handbook, the Darkholder lineage for Void-born characters has among other traits Ghillam Blood. Ghillam? What does that mean? It's nowhere in the descriptive fluff. Is it someone in the lore?

Ghillam - because the authors of the game were fans of 'Firefly' And who can blame them! If you want to check the inspiration watch the series (or even the first episode, but the whole thing is a marvel) or 'Serenity' - a full movie, which is the series' finale.

Of course, there are enough Reaver substitutes, from Khorne cults to (ok, rather more sophisticated) Dark Eldar.

Crazy cannibal mutants preying on us poor and unaware normal folk (whether on a space ship, in some European backwoods, or in irradiated mountains in the mid-west) is a trope as old as time... or at least as old as the 16th century.

Hehehe...of course if you wanted to add some serious non cannon flavor to it you could simply add the "Haemovore" file instead of standard darkholder voidborn ships/crews...great way to explain why even the regular voiborn avoid the darkholders and would actually fit the idea of them being cannibalistic or blood drinkers at the least. BTW the file can be found on the Dark Reign site. Ive begun to institute it into my game already though i am taking some license with how it is applied and exactly what abilities the haemovores do/dont get vs what is stated in the file as it is a bit much for me...im not trying to go that overboard with the idea...lol...Check it out..hope you enjoy
