I would pay for a voice over pack DLC

By Thaeggan, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

I'm no voice actor, I'm not all that great at reading aloud, and there is a bit of reading in this game. I mean, it is not a trilogy or the Silmarillion, but I always end up reading for the groups I play in and... it is tiring. Ya, I could try to pawn it off on someone else, but I would rather not do that to an unwilling group.

This game starts by setting the stage with a voice over, but nothing after that and because of that feels like the game is half baked on a narrative side until you get deep enough and forget all about that one instance of voice over narration.

It would be very nice if the game was narrated in every aspect that contains text, except for player choices.

I love this idea but it would probably require being online or filling your device storage. If you had the option to opt in would be best, i think.

Just on this note, it sounds like you're also unwilling. Nothing wrong with asking for a volunteer to give you a break.

That said though, I agree with your point entirely. I think that'd be a nice addition.

Unwilling indeed. A voice over saves me the trouble of reading and with a good voice actor would bring more life to than narrative than I ever could. Also a voice over would not have that awkward request for a volunteer as most people I know are not fans of reading aloud either.

Yes, I see the irony in buying a narrative board game when I don't read for fun, but it is Lord of the Rings and I've read the books 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed those. Silmarillion once... but I'll probably read it again.

At first reading was fine, but after playing through the first 8 chapters all done in an afternoon-evening because everyone was enjoying it, 4 times with different groups and I don't really like reading in the first place, it becomes a drag. Not sure why no one plays after getting to Chapter 8... I have yet to finish the campaign even with perfect win rates though very nervous and close wins by the group(s).

+1 on paying for a Voice-over Pack add-on. I'd happily pay a few bucks to set the mood mid-game.

....do it......come on man......do it!!......

We take turns reading. The person playing usually only reads their chosen responses, while the person that is seated to the left of the current player does the bulk of the reading. There are some exceptions though, of which I don't recall. LOL.
