Gonna be starting on painting my rebel ships here soon and want to do some noseart(though I guess it's technically wing art). Been looking into it but I haven't found a lot of tips for painting noseart on this small a scale. Wanted to see if y'all had any suggestions before I hopped into it?
Noseart tips
I'm posting this so you can CYA. Have a blast with your repainting
!
Two things to keep in mind if planning on using the repainted minis for more than personal display.
1. Bullet point 8 of the Inappropriate Behavior sub of the Unsporting Conduct section of the Official Floor Rules (Starts page 12, bullet point 8 is on page 13). Your ships count as game materials. sub point c applies to "pin-up" style nose and wing art.
"A person attending the event is wearing offensive clothing or has offensive images on
their game materials, such as a play mat. The player must remove or cover up the
offensive imagery or risk an upgrade to their penalty. “Offensive” in this context is:
a. Anything that could be deemed as racist, sexist, or discriminatory in any way.
b. Graphically violent/gory imagery.
c. Sexually suggestive or explicit material.
d. Strong language, i.e. swear words, slurs, etc. (keep it PG!)"
2. The first bullet point of the Component Modifications section of the Tournament Regulations (page 4 of the printer friendly version).
"Players may paint their ship miniatures. They cannot modify a ship
miniature in any way that would create confusion about which ship the
miniature represents."

... and thin the paint.
If you can, use decals. You have to have super steady hands and a good brush if you're actually thinking of painting ship-art at that scale. It's possible though, if you're using a larger canvas like the Lambda shuttle or similar but don't expect to have much luck on a Resistance pod or Separatist Vulture!

Thank you very much for the heads-up! Fortunately I don't do competitive tournaments or anything but if I ever do now I know to cover that up. Again, thank you very much for the warning!

Thanks for the tips! Will try to look at decals I am painting on a smaller ship. Going to try to do an outline with my thin brush using black and grey and then fill in carefully. If that isn't working I can strip that and go for decal!
