Not using that name but they could make the format legal.

Playing cards should be faster, as there are no double (two person rolling same number need to roll again, lenghtening the process) or "empty" (8 players on a d12 or d20) results. As many cards as players, everyone draws one card each round, making order perfectly clear, then shuffle again.

You are confusing Jesus with Dave Grohl.
Regarding leaving the wing and rejoining, you could potentially drive into your wing facing the wrong direction, but as long as you are range 1 1, you get a stressless K-turn to get back in position. Doesn't sound broken, but it is interesting.

It's like the Phantom re-docking to the Ghost at range 1. Pretty cool but not all that powerful.

I thought about cards but:
A. I thought shuffling every round would be annoying, and
B. Poor shuffling would result in non-random results.

D20 feels too random for my preference, but d6 or d8 + printed Initiative would probably be fun.

Well, they could with some changes.
The Resistance cartoon gives them the perfect chance to make a pseudo-MC with a SW theme.
I'm actually kinda disappointed that the Fireball is a normal release. I think it would have been sweet to have 2 or 3 ships in an Ace Squadron/Colossus Racer expansion.
It'd be a great entry path for new players: three ships with racing rules, a damage deck, and templates.

X-Wing Kart probably isn’t trademarked. At least until this conversation came up.

Hmm.
Or 3d6 + IN.
The bell curve would allow for more "upset rounds" where low IN got to go first than a straight roll.
I do think you want a big range to eliminate most RNG ties.
It's something that needs playing with to get the feel right.

2D8? Something feels right about 8-sided dice and X-Wing. ![]()

I interviewed the HotAC creator and he stated he turned down FFG's offer to buy it. They can still do something like it, though. Or, he changes his mind.
What is HotAC?

Heroes of the Aturi Cluster - it was created back in 1.0 as a cooperative player format. Players took Rebel ships and went up against an Imperial AI player. Picture a mixture of xwing and an RPG - you level up by gaining experience points for taking actions mid-flight, and then you spend the XP on EPTs, upgrades, etc. between missions.
Was really fun.

I missed that. That’s too bad. I’m guessing the deal involved more than he was willing to part with I suppose.
I never expected ffg to just actually make HotAC - I’d expect more likely they make their own AI model and do something similar but different. I like the idea still, and I can’t wait to see their version of it come to life.
Only 1.0? No 2.0 update? Too bad because it sounds like an awesome mod.

The designer was later hired by another game company and couldn’t afford to spend time on it as a hobby. At least so I heard.
There is a Facebook group for folks actively converting it for 2.0 stats.

That, and the above. If I remember correctly he said something like he did not want to loose the freedom and creativity to do want he wants with HotAC. The interview is in episode 18 of the Shuttle Tydirium podcast, if you want to hear want Josh exactly said.

He was hired to do the same thing for Wiz Kids Stat Trek game. While he personally doesn't have time, he does run a Facebook page for HotAC. There are a lot of people that have worked on the 2.0 version of the game. The creator has given a lot of input into the various updates. So, there is a 2.0 version, but not a really official version.
While you may think the AI will be crappy, it actually can kick your butt pretty badly.
The missions can be pretty tough and they have story arcs that progress the plot. It's some of the best Xwing there is.
Some people have made different versions of it for Imperials and such. Or basing a campaign off a captured Gozanti cruiser.

Have you interviewed him recently? Episode 18 was in 2016. Last year he posted on Facebook that he predicted that HotAC would come to X-Wing by GenCon of this year but he would not be involved.
From the discussion, I understood that an agreement couldn’t be made and FFG was moving ahead without him.
With the release of Epic and the talk on this last episode of FFG Live, I was under the impression that a Co-op version could be on the way.

Ohhh....that is new. I'll talk to Biff as he is more involved with that group to see if he knows anything.

It could be called the Five Sabers or the Gauntlet, both of which were races in Star Wars EU. Or the could call it whatever they call the races from the Resistance TV show.

2.0 is currently in the works by a small group of volunteers since the original creator doesn't have the time to update it. There are some changes being made to the game, with the original creator's blessing as he is on the group page and aware of all suggestions, ideas, and changes. Right now a big thing is just playtesting, balancing, and we're waiting for Epic 2.0 to come out since there are a few missions in HotAC that use a Rebel Transport.
But yeah, as mentioned, there is a Facebook group that has a lot of news for the campaign, along with other fan-made campaigns. The second biggest one is 'Flight Group Alpha', an Imperial 2.0 adaptation of the old 90's PC game "TIE Fighter".

Imagine a box featuring the 5 main racer ships from The Resistance show, with checkpoint arcs and racing rules, as a standalone game...
Of course, all of them would come with some cards compatible with X-Wing 2nd E.
FFG, JUST DO IT!!!!
