B-Wing list for casual play

By Stefan, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Does this make sense?

MC80 Command Cruiser (106)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Flight Commander (3)

Squadrons:
• 6 x B-wing Squadron (84)
• 2 x HWK-290 (24)
• 2 x YT-1300 (26)
= 134 Points

Total Points: 397

With AFFM you probably don’t need Independence or those FCT’s, and could use those points for a turbo laser upgrade or something. Perhaps a QBT for the MC80, or the Defiance title.

And definitely swap out a Comms Net for Bomber Command Center. You won’t regret it!

I though I'd need the tokens for AFFM.

Keep one comms net, make the other a Bomber Command Center. The BCC will make the B-Wings way more consistent, while keeping a token slave for AFFM.

Should I swap the YT1300 for X-Wings? Same cost and escort, but faster. More dice, less health.

Personal preference, YTs and B-wings have the same speed so they work well together.

With AFFM they are all three anyway so should work...I'll keep em.

I'm uncertain about Flight Commander and Toryn Farr. Do I need those or is there a better alternative?

Toryn Farr is great. I would keep her.

I don't think you need Flight Commander AND Boosted Comms on the MC80. I would swap Flight Commander for Strategic Adviser. Or add Bright Hope to one of the flotillas.

Bright hope, Toryn Farr, BCC is all a B-wing needs to ruin the days of most ships. Just be careful about getting too close.

Also I agree about the FC/Boosted Comms, one or the other. IMO BC is better due to being able to soften a target with B-wings than shoot with the Mc80.

Ok, keeping her. On which ship though...?

Here's how I would do it.

The FC because there aren't any more points or because it's better?

Because there aren't any more points. And personal preference.

I've used FC as a replacement for Boosted Comms on a Pelta, and it's not bad--if your ship is pointing in the right direction, and won't run over your squads. You'll have to be very careful about how you deploy squads (Don't run them over!), but you'd have to do that anyway even if you had Boosted Comms, FCT, etc.

I'm bad with squadrons, so today will go down as a lesson anyway. Thanks for the help!

i would put toryn farr and bright hope on the BCC, yes I know its all eggs in one basket, but i usually am running yavaris in my bomb squads, so it usually gets shot not the support boat :D

if you decide b-wings are slow, here is a fast hard hitting squadron loadout that has escorts, escorts also double down as bombers.
Squadrons:
• Jan Ors (19)
• Biggs Darklighter (19)
• 2 x X-wing Squadron (26)
• Nym (21)
• 3 x Scurrg H-6 Bomber (48)
= 133 Points

I like the list. Dodonna bombers are awesome. :) I'm rooting for you!

most ISD i will 100 to 0 turn 2, thats including some match ups with brunson and an interdictor tank support. (although this matchup is alot harder)
Nym and Yavaris is BS

This is my usual list, won a few of tournaments with it, and finished quite a few times on podium with it, but as you will notice there is no defensives, its all max bomb damage, high risk, high reward.

Name: Scurrg H-6 Nuke
Faction: Rebel
Commander: General Dodonna

Assault: Precision Strike
Defense: Fighter Ambush
Navigation: Superior Positions

MC80 Command Cruiser (106)
• General Dodonna (20)
• Adar Tallon (10)
• Fighter Coordination Team (3)
• Boosted Comms (4)
= 143 Points

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
• Flight Commander (3)
• Yavaris (5)
= 65 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 35 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

Squadrons:
• Jan Ors (19)
• Biggs Darklighter (19)
• 2 x X-wing Squadron (26)
• Nym (21)
• 3 x Scurrg H-6 Bomber (48)
= 133 Points

Total Points: 396

As for the B-Wing list I agree Pelta with AFFM over Yavaris, they are too slow, you make up for the lost in firepower by taking more because they are cheaper than Scurrgs, also an extra anti-squad die helps against interceptors.

Looks fun. Do you usually try to take down a few of your opponents' squadrons with the X-Wings, or just bomb the big ships and ignore the squads?

Usually try and intercept or shepard enemy squads with Jan/Biggs, X-Wing Tar Pit and use Nym/Adar then Yavaris Nym/Nym their main capital taking out both redirects and contain with double re-rolls for blue crit. Brace dont mean crap against bombers. Need to Guarantee the crit selection for Dodonna once you crack the shields. The raw damage potential ceiling of Nym + Scurrgs + Yavaris and not including fishing for structural damages or supporting fire from ships or the x-wings bombing is 24.

Currently toying around with an Imperial Sector Fleet build using the SSD as a Super Carrier.

My first ever fleet the squadron composition was
Squadrons:
• Jan Ors (19)
• 2 x YT-1300 (26)
• Ten Numb (19)
• 5 x B-wing Squadron (70)
= 134 Points
It was fun, blew big ships to bits and tanked squads all day, but omg... so... slow...

Thinking of bringing this to the table today. In case you read it before:

1) Why not Leading Shots? Do I need the bid so bad?

2) How best use the FC and FCT?

3) Why Adar Tallon and BCC on the same GR75 and not split?

4) How do I spread the squadrons? I thought one ball, Biggs in the middle, X-Wings on the flanks, Scurrghs in between. Jan Ors where she's needed.

1) the H1Mc80 is a carrier so leading shots could be helpful but isn't required in this case.

2) take a squadron command, shoot, move ship shuffle squadrons, activate squadrons.

3) First its Toryn Farr not Adar Tallon, secondly it is so that you can both BCC the black die on the H-6s and Farr the Blue die if you need to.

4) Like most positioning things in the game it will be depending upon your opponent. I would use Biggs and the X-wings to intercept the hostile squadrons, and send the H-6s either round the furball or through any hole in their defenses. Remeber the H-6 have grit so they can ignore the first squadron engaging them. Jan should be close to the genarics so they can use her defense tokens. Also use her Intel to keep the H-6s bombing.

Thanks! Two more:

1) Why no FCT on Yavaris? The spot's there.

2) Just so I get the mechanic right: I activate the HMC80. I have a squadron command. I shoot, then move, then move the squadrons 1, then activate all those squadrons?
