I hope we don't see the sequal for a while or not at all. I mean after last jedi, I'm done.

I got snowtroopers, AT-ST's, tauntauns and veterans. I honestly don't give a flying nun what anyone does now.

I see the ones who prefer the latest released movies calling all others "haters" just because they prefer other ones. Likewise, ones who prefer the originals calling others haters and the same with the clone wars era. The fact is, all are full of crap. There are no haters, just ones who like some better. we all love the mythos or we wouldnt be here in the first place. We would be off on a star treck site griping and complaining about which time era is best call all who dont agree with us haters. lol

Just because I think scum needs to be introduced before others does not mean I'm right. Likewise with the other eras and factions. I just got done dealing with a bunch of trolls and half whits because they did not agree with my opinion on an ethics question. It went for 11 pages with that behavior. Lets hold ourselves to a higher standard and stricter set of ethics and maintain that all we are talking about are opinions and points of view.

The sort of people I am calling haters are the type of people that told my 8 year old son (who lives and breathes star wars and can quote the old star wars npr radio play from memory because we listen to it in the car all the time) that he is not a real star wars fan and that he is dumb for enjoying the last jedi. I am talking about the so called "fans" who send death threats to Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson. Not liking something is fine. We are all humans and all have different beliefs, backgrounds, and tastes. It bothers me that people are taking time out of their days to respond to a thread like this just to say that they hope ffg doesn't ever release a product that they would not have bought anyways, but would bring happiness to many others. I don't care for the prequels. I dont really want any of the clone wars legion content. But I don't spend my time crapping all over the people who do like it. Why? Because they love star wars just as much as I do. They have just as much ownership of their love of star wars as I do. It makes me happy to see people getting excited about their new clones and battle droids even if its not my thing.

To stop the horrible joke on the fans that is the sequal trilogy to infest my favourite game 😃

Just to clarify that while they may look the same the first order troopers were very different from stormtroopers, the latter often volunteered to join in to serve the empire. First Order troopers were young children stolen at a very young age and indoctrinated. This could play out in game as having a courage 2 trooper who is possibly, or possibly not better equipped with weapons.

Finn froze and panicked his first battle despite being trained from childhood. Courage 2 would not fit the first order troopers IMO.

They could just start the game being panicked. That would differentiate them from Stormtroopers. They may look the same, but they don't act the same on the table.

I don't think Finn is really representative of the average First Order stormtrooper, as far as I know he's the only defector ever. It does seem to me that First Order stormtroopers seem more heavily indoctrinated given training since childhood, so courage 2 would seem appropriate to me and a way to differentiate them from Imperial stormtroopers.

Being trained for combat is one thing. Actually seeing your friends die in front of you, and then being asked to commit to what would in our time likely be considered a war crime is another.

In other instances, (books, shows, film) we have seen the first order be near fanatical. **** a stormtrooper calls out Finn for being a traitor, despite growing up together. If anything it shows that Finn is the exception, and most blindly follow their conditioning.

You know what else? Most units are going to be designed from a certain point if view that we might not see in the movies. My playing of Boba Fett is not representative of how he appears in the films. He routinely is a difficult and formidable foe for my opponents, and never once has he been taken out by a blind man and screamed like a chump while flying into a pit.

True that, the movies are garbage for assessing the combat capabilities of many units. Stormtroopers most certainly wouldn't have red defense die if they purely went off the movies.

If you read any of the background fiction you would know it wasn't fear he was feeling but it was abhoration at the fact he had to kill innocents. In previous material released prior to the film Finn was a model trooper however he had been noted as having compassion for fellow troopers when they expected his indoctrination to have instilled that a fallen comrade should be left to die, the mission should take priority. Ultimately he was about the only one who wasn't indoctrinated. If you want to base your conception of first order troopers on the one exception, you must have a very narrow view of people in general.

Do you expect all short people to be like Gimli out of LOTR?

don't take my confrontational answers too seriously but you get my point don't you.

I don't speak ill of fans, but it's my opinion. You can enjoy it if you want, but I felt like rian Johnson tried to piss fans off with this writing and I feel bad for Mark Hamill.

I do feel that introducing the re-skinned and very lack of creativity factions of first order and resistance will hurt the game. It is MY opinion, feel free to disagree.

Ya gotta be careful with opinions. If this section is anything like the x wing, you will get flamed and trolled at by a vocal few for 11 pages so they can get their jollies and rack up a post count. Theres nothing wrong with opinions, just gotta be ready for people to try to make it more than what it is.

I’m not a huge fan of the sequels (I thought they were decent), but I think that Samophlange has a point. This is a topic intended to discuss what a resistance faction in legion would look like. Its not about whether or not it SHOULD be added, or if the sequels are good movies or not. I get that you don’t like the sequels, but going out of your way to make that excessively clear in a thread where that information isn’t relevant, in the slightest, to the discussion, does make you seem like nothing more than a “hater”.

Rebel Troopers get nimble, Stormtroopers get precise, Clones get Fire support, B1s get coordinate droid trooper. my point is all the basic infantry get a keyword that fits there faction/sets them apart, so what kind of key word would the resistance troopers have? genuinely curious what people think i myself don't have any ideas at the moment.

Something relating to tenacity I would think.

My idea is giving them something that allowed them to keep attack dice in their pool even as squads lost mini’s. It could be called heroic (or something like that) and would represent their tendency to just keep getting back up (metaphorically speaking) throughout the conflict.

I am not familiar with additional material aside from the movies, but as it stands we’d have to pull heavily from sources outside of the movies to make a viable faction. They definitely have lots of commander/operative choices, but not much else. Their was very little footage of the regular troops doing much in the movies IIRC. I can’t even remember them aside from the salt scene in TLJ.

Lets hope the next movie gives us some good stuff for our games.
