One of the primary lessons learned from world war II is that the bubble canopy is a million times tactical Superior to the classic canopy. This is why the P-51D is what you think of when you think of a mustang and not the P-51C. The C had the classic canopy and thus was slightly faster, but that was not enough of an advantage and the visibility granted by the bubble canopy was crucial.

I'm not saying it's an ugly picture because it's a really pretty craft. I am saying that it is not a good design for a fighter craft.
