First Hyperspace Tourny- list thoughts

By Ccwebb, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Going to attend my first hyperspace trials later this month. I am a very casual player and tend to gravitate to themed lists, but not sold on it. I’d rather have a list I enjoy to fly than what the most popular is.

Suggestions and thoughts on this DS2 trench run:

Lando Calrissian (80)
Nien Nunb (5)

Ship total: 85 Half Points: 43 Threshold: 7

Wedge Antilles (55)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 61 Half Points: 31 Threshold: 4

Norra Wexley (Y-Wing) (41)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Veteran Turret Gunner (8)

Ship total: 54 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 4

Total: 200

Looks good. I wouldn't necessarily change anything. Some people will tell you not to do shield upgrade on Wedge, but a player just recently won a HST here (47 people) with Lando, Thane, Norra, and had hull updrades on all three. Just fly it well. Good Luck!

This looks simple and solid to me, put in some reps and see how you like it.

What about shield upgrade vs stealth device?

Shield.

this hyperspace list is really fun if you've got the ships for it...

Basically just focus with everything all the time and rely on Saw for your rerolls.

Turrets are there to face put a side and offset the Ys maneuvering limitations. Ion control is an accidental perk, but not the point, per-se.

Saw rolls Lando dice every turn for shenanigans, and make sure you use that Elusive!! He's paying flippin' 10 points to make sure he can get the most from that red stop to recharge his elusive. (Lando A.S. on the stop)

That's it! Y-wings are really fun, and saw makes them better.

Y-Wing in a DS2 "Trench Run"? Other than that looks like it'd be a pain to face (mostly due to Lando + Nora). :)

Yes sir. Y-wing enters right behind the Falcon. In the Aftermath series, it is confirmed the Ywing is piloted by Nora. 😀

Stealth Device only seems "worth it" on ships with enough defensive dice modification to be likely to roll an Evade with that extra die. I think it almost makes sense on someone like Ten Nunb (two rerolls plus a focus isn't bad) or Captain Feroph (turning a side to an Evade, if the defender has no tokens). It might be decent on Luke if Jyn Erso is in the list, since Luke with an Evade token is next-level.

The fact that Ten or Feroph is unlikely to keep the Stealth Device beyond the first attack doesn't matter too much, since Hull or Shield also only work once, but the chance of keeping it has the potential to make it better. But only if you're rather likely to roll an Evade on that one extra die.

For Wedge, he maybe has a focus, if he doesn't spend it to attack. Likewise, I probably wouldn't put Stealth Device on someone like Corran Horn, despite going up to 4 dice, since he probably only has a Focus token.

Kind of an over-elaborate answer, but it strikes me as generally applicable. Strong Defensive mods = Stealth Device. Anything else? Hull or Shield.
