Can Dinee Juke?

By SpiderMana, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Dinee Ellberger in the N1 says that his opponents’ dice “cannot be modified” if his revealed speed matches theirs.

Does this screw him out of Juke?

Its not a great choice on him either way, since the opponent can just... never choose to go fast enough to give him the free Evade paired with his ability... but still, I brought it up in discussion last night and the other player was caught off guard by the suggestion.

If Dinee matches speed with her target, she cannot use Juke against it.

It's the same reason why Midnight doesn't work well with Juke, (while her First Edition counterpart practically had Juke stapled on).

uhh, is that right??

Midnight not working with Juke? Yup.

got references?

"While you defend or perform an attack, if you have a lock on the enemy ship, that ship’s dice cannot be modified."

Why do you need them? It's written on the card.

"...... that ship’s dice cannot be modified "

The source or effect that is attempted to the mod the dice is irrelevant. The dice CANNOT be modified.

Dice mods are:

• Add: To add a die result, place an unused die displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die added in this way is treated as a normal die for all purposes and can be modified and canceled.

• Change: To change a die result, rotate the die so that its faceup side displays the new result.

• Reroll: To reroll a die result, pick up the die and roll it again.

• Spend: To spend a result, remove the die from the dice pool

Juke is a mod that falls under "change," so it cannot be used in the aforementioned scenarios.

Note , Crack Shot cancels a die, so it can be used by a ship like Midnight or Dineé because cancelling a die is not a modification.
