Looking for suggestions: tournament squad display folio

By matt.sucharski, in X-Wing

I am looking for something and I hope the x-wing community might be able to point me in the right direction. I would like a display folio in which I could put my squad's pilot and upgrade cards. I would like it to be able to stand up. I hope this will make my squad easy to see for my opponent and take less of the limited table space than laying out cards. Bonus if I can do something to manage damage cards assigned to pilots or charge tokens. This may be asking a lot. I have looked in amazon's office and business stuff but nothing is quite what I'm looking for. A long time ago there was such a product on etsy or somewhere, but it is long since out of production.

Thanks, my dudes!

Something like this might work for you. You’d probably have to put shield/charge tokens on the table in front of the rack, but other than that, these seem to hit all the points you’re looking for.

Note that they do not grip the cards snuggly (I tried them and returned them for this reason), so if the rack gets knocked over your cards might spill out. I do like that they are clear though, so you can see those important stat-lines and text near the bottoms of your cards.

Thanks. Fixed.

Wow, for roughly $30 that seems pricey for four plastic stands.

If you know someone with a table saw, you could make a slot at a 10 degree angle on a 1"x 2"piece of cedar cut to 11 inches or so would work just as well too.

And if you are one or know a decent woodworker you could make a little recess for tokens to sit in.

Something as simple as this:

Actually, I happen to be a woodworker by profession. ;) The problem with this is that it covers up the bottom of the cards, which is especially troublesome for the pilot cards, since the stats are right across the bottom.

I don't know if it would actually cover up all that much on the card if the slot is 1/4"

Sounds like you need to start a new X-Wing Etsy store where you can sell beams of wood with a proper sized cut in the back for holding up cards with a clear plastic tray to hold/stand up tokens with in front of it.

THEN the DELUXE edition with that can hold all the templates and has sections for tokens or places to stand your ships up to go from table to table.

Maybe... I do wonder about how much support ≤1/4” would provide. The slots wouldn’t do much good if the cards fall out every time someone bumps them or knocks the table.

Actually, I have toyed with idea of making something like this out of acrylic. My biggest concern would be making it worth my time. @Force Majeure balked up there at 4 stands for $30. I doubt I’d be able to make custom card holder for less than $25 a piece, and more if we start adding in slots for shields and charge tokens.

Based on the suggestions here, I purchased the product below. If it doesn't work for x-wing, at least it will work for the crazy card games my wife likes that sometimes include 17 cards in a hand (especially difficult when trying to hold a baby while playing).

Wooden Card Holders, 4 pack $17.99
