Republic 2 Cores + Rex

This is what I came up with for double core set only. Honestly, I won’t have time to play it until the clone upgrade pack slated for q4 arrives since I still am waiting for general release of the core set.

I can add a 5th unit of phase 1 borrowing the extra trooper from each core set unit plus the personnel upgrade with leader keyword. That’ll get me somewhere between 768-785 by my guesstimates. Once I know how it fits I can add a heavy weapon to that unit too, or I can just invest in upgrade cards.

I do plan on buying Rex ASAP, and the tank eventually. Otherwise nothing announced yet (but I will be looking for SF news).

I'm merely trying to point out that the future is coming, and when it does, a fifth or sixth copy of a corps choice is likely going to go to waste sitting on a shelf. By all means, one can spend money and time as one sees fit. Stupidity is thinking that time and money are both infinite.

I won mine with 5 of the exact same (with an officer plugged in to one, but close enough) I've also had a lot of luck with other lists that spam corps units, almost always consisting of nothing but stormtroopers. Similar stormtrooper heavy lists have won or done well at every RPQ I've been to as well, and there's no reason not to think that Clones won't be similar.

Phase IIs look good, but at the moment they don't have the DC-15, which hurts them in my opinion, and they're also more expensive, something the Republic can't really afford right now.

Anywho, back on topic.

For a "2 Core Plus Rex" list, I'm looking at something like this:

This is obviously cheating, as it includes more troopers than even two core sets, but the extra troopers can be replaced by BARCs. I would love to have kept Force Guidance on Obi, but the points just aren't there. Between him and Rex's Aggressive Tactics, however, they should always have a steady supply of surge tokens. Until Rex comes out I'll be running something similar, with a BARC or two thrown in for good measure to pad out the points. (or just proxying him in)

Recon Intel on Rex is a must. Is Stims really necessary?

I don't think Recon Intel on Rex is an obvious shoe in, but I've still got the points for it, so I might end up throwing it on there. Advancing a speed two move vs a speed 1 with a total of three units is a little too aggressive for my tastes, unless I get some sort of Clone E-Web. Then it's a shoe in.

As for stims, I find it's an extremely useful tool to have on any named character. They tend to take too much fire for my taste, and being able to keep them alive for a turn after they should have died is nice, and can honestly mean the difference between winning and losing a game. I just wish Obi-Wan had the option to take it.
