I'm surprised there's no topic for this.
Supposedly the Dewback packs bought at gencon have huge bases instead of what they are supposed to have, a large base. Is there any news on this and what FFG will do with existing packs and the ones that will hit stores soon?

It's being called "Dewbacle." The Fifth Trooper guys talked about it on their podcast yesterday, and it's discussed in the thread they started. No official word, as far as I'm aware, of what they're going to do, other than you can contact FFG and get them swapped out.
I wonder if the huge base will be considered legal. I have to imagine there’s at least someone who was at GenCon and didn’t know it was a mistake and is assembling their very own super fast thunder lizard as we speak...

It's the wrong base size and provides significant advantage, so no.
Base doesn't seem too much bigger than the model. Could be its AOE.

Unless ffg just fixes the mistake by saying “well that’s the correct size now”. Like how they amended xwing scoring points rule to fit an error in the app rather than fix the app.

They have already posted in the Facebook group about contacting them to get the correct base. So doesn't look like they are going to make the Huge base official.

Even the back of the box and the instructions show the correct Large base. It can't imagine it needs further clarifications than that.
This kinda sucks that they won’t sell packs of spare bases. This should be an overnight fix, not a wait for the mail fix.
the bigger issue is what it someone is unaware of the issue and shows up to an rpq or something with the incorrect base?

They all had the wrong size base. They repackaged them with the correct size (or maybe just stuck them to the outside?). You should contact whoever you bought them from. They might need to contact their distributor.

They did. They pulled them from distributors from around the world and repackaged them with the correct bases before releasing them again. It was a real Dewbacle!
I just bought one yesterday (in the United States) and it was fine. Maybe some slipped through the recall process in Brazil.
I thought they just shipped all the mess-up packages south of the equator and printed new product for the northern hemisphere
It seems that our local distributor, galapagos jogos, did not check if the bases were correct in the batch sent to our country, and simply put up for sale. Even knowing there was a problem with the first print run.
Try sending an email to ffg customer service as you wouldo for a missing part.
Explaining the situation.
They may ship you the correct bases directly
Got the dewback for christmas with the wrong base. I guess it was ordered online off ebay or something (Ireland). Sent an email to ffg, hopefully gets sorted when they're back to work

I'm in Portugal and I just received mine straight from an European distributor and it still came with the wrong base as well...

Perhaps it was purchased in a store after all then. I dont know any players here so I can't verify. Asmodee are sending a replacement base and the issue was dealt with very promptly.
