As someone who flies a lot of RAC, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the mag-pulse is going to effectively remove the VT-49 from its limited role in the game already.

IF anyone's going to bother equipping it. In theory, ion missile effectively neuters Jedi, as them getting ionised is closest they get to certain death. But then, no one really plays these and Jedi are curses upon as OP.

? They still get their Fine Tuned controls after the Ion Maneuver so they can still Boost or Barrel Roll after they complete it and then Focus during their Perform Action step.

Very true, but this is just going to get them out of range 1 (at best).

However, ion is way more punishing for the 7b than for the standard frame. In fact, an ionization move will still let Obi get his never-ending focus. I don't think a kill is certain at all, but (to Ryfterek's point) it's as good as you are going to get.

While I definitely agree Deplete is probably the 'offensive version of Strain', I don't know that we can necessarily say it'll be a 1:1 match. It might not reduce the roll by 1 dice.

It might just stop you from being able to modify your dice, or force you to re-roll, or cap the number of hits.

I think the simplest, and therefore most likely outcome is probably, as you say, just straight up Strain for attack. But people have pointed out that reducing attack could slow the game down, and I'd still say we should at least entertain the possibility the effect might not be quite so potent as Strain.

I like the idea of it canceling one hit after the attacker's modify dice step.

I mean... If one can't accommodate for a single barrel roll / boost after the obligatory 1 straight, then maybe it's not the Jedi power level that's the reason they're getting played by Jedi.

Yeah, if a Mag-Pulse missiles hits a Decimator removing a reinforce with the jam, that Deci is going to get lit up.

Hm...sounds like what we need is a bomb that can deal out Jams...

You stated "neuters" which I don't see it doing. You still have a focused 2-3 green base ship in your kill box that will generally (due to player pilot preferences) have multiple force charges to complement the focus token. You've tripped an armadillo.

Agreed, a ship that essentially get a reposition action, 1 or 2 psuedo-calculates, and a focus. The one forward still sucks, but it sucks much less than on any other ship.

I think this thread is Depleted.

Please execute a Red maneuver or shoot a friendly ship to continue.
