Weapon/Item Question

By Vince79, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

So let's say your sword (or whatever) says:

1 success: 2 hits

1 success: pierce

2 success: 5 hits

Does that mean that if I test and get three successes, I can apply 5 hits, and then also choose between giving either two additional hits or adding pierce?

Also, if the sword has two different kind of stats in the upper left hand corner (let's say might and wisdom), does that mean you get to choose which of those stats you use to test for? So if you're like 3 might and 4 wisdom, you would choose to use wisdom because you have four chances to get successes. You don't use both at once, right?

Correct on all points. You get to choose Wisdom or Might, not add both.

Correct on both accounts.

Also worth noting if you have other equipment that uses the stat you choose to attack with you can use successes from that card on the attack as well.

Thanks guys. I have one more game to finish the first campaign, and I only now feel like I'm getting the rules squared away.

I've made some mistakes on some rules throughout, but they've been on both sides so I suppose they've kind of evened themselves out.

﴾...sorry for the necro add....﴿

...why are there some weapons with two "1 success" with the first better and then second less as good such as

1 success: 3 hits

1 success: 2 hits

...is this because you can only use the first line once; and therefore, must use the second success because have used the first line...??? vielendank

Each "line" of text can only be triggered once per attack

Brilliant! Thank you; as this makes greater logic for me. Do you remember where in the rules this is listed ( that each line is only trigger once)? Very much thanks.

In the "Learn to play" booklet is listed on the "attack tests" section at the end of the first paragraph: "Each ability indicates how many successes must be spent to resolve it, and each ability can be resolved only once per attack."

Win! Thank you master illusionist Henry!
