What's THIS!?

A ship for Armada...

It's totally the Midway from Wing Commander Prophecy! He even mentioned something about mounting a kyber crystal in it for a superweapon, which is exactly what happened in Prophecy!

And in season 2 of the Lego Freemakers show...

Oh, that's what it is from? I couldn't even find it on the wookiepedia!

According to what they said when they revealed it at the In-Flight Report, it's from the Aftermath trilogy of books.

Both of the new Armada ships are from Aftermath? I made it about 1/3 of the way though the second one before I gave up on it and cancelled my preorder for the third. Those were painful reads.

Still, strange that wookiepedia missed something - they are usually pretty thorough.

No no, just the idea of builing a ship with kyper crystal, to make it into an even more power full weapon :). I kinda wish a couple of the Freemaker ships made it into the game though.

Gotcha.

I grew up on the Wing Commander games (starting with the first one... yes, I'm old!) and the last major entry (which also starred Mark Hamil) had this ship: https://www.wcnews.com/wcpedia/Midway-class_heavy_carrier

At one point, you capture a giant crystal from the new unknown enemies and mount it to the midway for a superweapon. And when you see that ship and would guess where it would mount a large crystal, yes, the results looked... giggleworthy ;)

Wow, that is pretty close to the new star destroyer!

So is this a proposal for a new Huge ship?

Yeah, it's absolutely the Midway.

Star Wars is now cribbing its designs off a game that cribbed its designs from Star Wars.

Funny how these things come full circle.

EDIT: Also just remembered that one of the new TIE Striker pilots in Hotshots and Aces is called "Vagabond". Did FFG just hire a massive Wing Commander fan?

Fun fact: an onager is a type of donkey.

Enjoy.

They're bombarding Jakku with a pair of spinal mount capital mass drivers from the looks of it.

That flying t-bone is literally named after a jackass.

It’s the donkey destroyer! 😛

What I think of when I hear "Onager":

Hopefully the First Order's don't have quite so many friendly-fire kills.

🤨 This is named after the Roman siege weapon. That was named after the animal...

So, still after an animal. If they’d named it after the Mercury Cougar or Jaguar XJS, they’d still be animals.
