Agreed. At first, I was disappointed that it wasn't more pointy and imperial-looking.

And then I remembered that's why I play empire.

It's a fantastic design for Rebels. Wondering if FFG had a hand in it.

I'm almost certain the Resistance cartoon people will have designed it. It's so them.

I like it.

...no actually I think I love it.

Hope we get to see these in IX.

The designers really knocked this one out of the park, whether Lucasfilms or a callaboration with FFG.

Looking at the Wiki entry I take it that the opening with 6 nubs circling it in the prow is the ship's tractor beam system?? If so the Armada forums are going to end up very similar to what the forums were here back when 2.0 first released when this ship's expansion drops... Gun fight purists despise tractor effects and other control elements.

... looks kind of comical on the large base.

Its bulk reminds me of the Aggressor-class and Keldabe-class ships from Forces of Corruption. There's a strong Mandalorian cap ship vibe for me.

It's cool. There's been a few attempts in Legends to give the New Republic their own purpose built warship. This one might be the best of all of them, to be honest. It's way, way better than the Bulwark or MC90 anyway.

I mean, the Interdictor is an Armada ship built entirely around screwing with tractor/gravity effects that screw with enemy speed, and it's been there for a long time. This would only be new in that the Rebels would get it.

The rear reminds me of a dreadnaught a bit as well.

I think it depends. No one wants to play a game against a list that basically says, "I control what I do and what you do, and you can only react and hope that I make a mistake somewhere," but not every control element leads to that. Further, just from the way the games are set up, tractoring can't work the same way it does in X-Wing. Rather than throwing ships around, it will probably just mess with their speed and how many clicks-per-segment the target ship can make.

Tractors have existed for both sides in Armada since wave 2 in the form of Phylon Q7 Tractor Beams. All it does is allow you to exhaust the card to slow down a target ship in range by 1, to a minimum of 1. It can be useful, but its rarely taken unless you're building with it in mind. The effect does stack if multiple ships hit one target, but you still have control of your own movement path. Only the Admiral Constantine commander card let's you speed anyone up, and only the Interdictor can use it's own special upgrades to bring anyone's speed down to zero, which is important enough to be a unique ability on an expensive(ish) frame.

Tl;dr tractor shenanigans in Armada are rare because they're expensive and pretty situational. A 6-turn limit on what you do in the game doesn't allow you to go ion-tractoring someone off the board, like X-wing.

That looks much more like a hanger to me.

Could very well be both. The tractor beam emitters could be the six circular things on the front and inside the hole is a hanger.

Holy **** that thing is big.
