No FO or Resistance faction confirmed???

By drail14me, in Star Wars: Armada

With the Starhawk and Onager announced as Empire and Rebel, does that confirm that we won’t get FO and Resistance factions?

I don’t think there is enough material for them.

X-Wing's Slave 1 debuted as an Imperial ship, and Y-Wings, Z-95s, and HWK-290s as Rebel, before the Scum faction came out.

When launching a new faction into an established game, it helps to have things you can cross-faction over from existing factions to make that initial launch easier to do.

IE., we don't know enough to read anything into that yet.

During the Q&A it was stated that Clone Wars for Armada will be end of 2020. I got the impression they wanted to build up all the ships prior to release.

Resistance has:

  • CR90 Corvettes
  • Hammerhead Corvettes
  • Free Virgillia-class 'bunkerbuster' (whatever that is)
  • Nebulon-C frigate
  • Vakbeor-class frigate
  • MC85 Cruiser
  • Starhawk-class battleship

First Order has - that is at least scaled to be able to fit into the game (IE., smaller than an SSD):

  • Mandator IV-class Star Dreadnought
  • Resurgent-class Star Destroyer
  • Maxima-A class Heavy Cruiser
  • Dissent-class Light Cruiser
  • Nebulon-K Frigates
  • Onager-class Experimental Star Destroyer (apparently)

size got really thrown out the window with the sequel. Its really hard to figure out why things are so large if they weren't so large in the empire times.

Bigger = better?

You can blame JJ and his desire for things to be more "epic". He did the same thing in the '09 Star Trek by scaling up the Enterprise for no reason other than he thought it looked better on screen.
