New Unit Stuff

Glad of what we're getting, but I was really hoping for more a whole lot sooner. This will mean TCW factions likely won't be competitive until February, at the earliest.

lol

competitive legion has like 6 units any way.

I watched the livestream Crabbok showed and am SUPER excited! I have a few comments/questions for you guys on the Clone Wars minis if I could have a moment of your time...

Rex: I know Dad is super stoked to have Rex as he's playing a mix of 501st and 212th, and so soon too! He'll love it. I'm willing to bet we'll get both styles of his helmet in his box, looking toward Sabine and her multiple heads.

Dooku: Oh Em Goodness! Gonna be a Seppy player for Legion, and really looking forward to Dooku. His sculpt looks great based on the render, and his pose, oh man his pose! It has that perfect arrogant challenging stance that a master duelist would use! Form but not overly aggressive and animated like Grievous's pose. Suits Christopher Lee/Dooku's personality perfectly!

Phase 2 Clones: Customization is always key in my household, and if these options match up to the expectations as FFG are saying, then there will be a lot of fun to be had for me!

B2 Super Battle Droids: Nothing else to say except "Watch out for those wrist rockets!" Models look nice too, good to have the rocket launcher droid as a specialist.

TX130 Fighter Tank: Ah, the fighter tank, fond memories of playing the original Clone Wars video game on the Gamecube and Battlefront are swimming back to me in droves!

AAT: Ah yeah! Favorite design from the prequels. I cant tell you how badly I wanted a toy one of these for years! Well, my inner child will finally be sated when this baby comes out! It's definitely getting the Separatist Blue and Grey treatment for paint! How are you fellow Generals of the Droid Army painting yours?

That's all my comments I have, thanks for reading!

If we get Cody in the Operative slot it's gonna be stupid...

With the recent “meta”, Droids alone would give Snipers conniption fits. Both GAR and CIS look well geared to be threatening regardless of the initial lack of special forces/heavy options.

What makes u think he would be in the operative slot? If Rex is going to be a commander theres no question in my mind that they wouldnt make Cody one to.

Someone hasn’t been paying much attention.

For once, we agree. I think CIS will do fine in the current competitive meta, and a play that can master GARs token sharing and fire support capabilities won’t be too far behind. Let’s put them on the table and see how it goes. I’m very hopefully from what we’ve tested so far on TTS.

I guess the good thing about a later release is it gives me time to save up

Though, if they do it, Cody could show up as the generic commander option. Not that I dislike Cody, but he didn't really have many heroic moments or much character development, unlike Rex.

Really doubt that I'm sure Cody will be his own unit and the generic clone commander will just be a no name clone, just like how the generic imperial and rebel commander are just no-name officers

Because if he’s an operative you have an agent Cody (Banks) joke primed for everyone who sees him from here to eternity.

Actually, the rebel DOES have a name; Gideon Argus - one of the player characters from Imperial Assault. 😜

More unannounced stuff for this year confirmed

Anyone got video of this? Really curious as to why they would announce stuff for next year before stuff they'll be releasing this year. Or why the other factions need more expansions before TCW gets their first non-core set release.

If you say so. Even if we're going by your numbers Clones have probably 1, at best 3 (if everything turns out to be a winner) Saddly, I don't think that's how it'll turn out.

With a massive Intellectual property that has a penchant for secrecy and Iron clad NDA’s they have something they can't announce yet?

I'm painting my C-3PO red like he's that random Echo Base protocol droid. R-3PO.

My new plan is to stop following new release threads and be surprised when I see stuff in stores like when I was a kid. You didn't know about a new Lego set or the next wave of SW figures till you saw them in K-Mart or Hills. There's enough unpainted minis in my basement to keep me occupied.

You forgot flipping the figure over to see the picture of the figures and hoping for a new picture with the upcoming figures. Always exciting when they had a couple blacked out.

I might split the difference - look at announcement articles but ignore the full spoiler ones. Knowing what’s coming helps me budget better (ie don’t buy a ton of phase 1 clones with phase 2 just around the corner) but then I still have Christmas morning excitement when the new toys arrive.

I’ve made some planned adjustments to wrap up my GCW collection so I have two working armies with a few choices in each, and then I’m going to focus on just the republic for a while. Instead of “one of each”, make it “what toys do I really want instead of feel I need to play”. I’m actually stunned I am skipping the tx225 tank for now but I have my ATST and I’d rather play with the new saber tank and clones than more ways of using the imperials.

Yeah, but why? I mean, the whole point of them having their little Report live-stream/presentation was to announce stuff. Why not announce stuff and build hype if you're releasing it this year? I mean, unless its tied into the new movie, there's not a good reason why they should hold of doing so. And lord help us all if it is tied into the new movie.

I remember trying to get a better look at the figures we didn’t own. By using a magnifying glass on the back of the cards. Course they just looked like pixelated blobs if you magnified them.

Not to mention that the new Imperial ship for Armada is rumored to have an episode 9 tie in and it wasn't hidden.

Ah, that would explain why I hadn't heard of it before, and why I thought it was so **** ugly.

Because things come up.

One employee gets a serious illness, misses a couple deadlines, and suddenly the company’s plans have to change.

A supplier in China says “yes I can make those” to save face, and you missed the non-verbal cues that mean “no I can’t take on this contract”. Couple months later he’s not returning your calls and your plans have to change.

FFG isn’t General Mills or Exxon. And I doubt they have the luxury of working a several years in advance on expansions/articles to allow for such curveballs.

my new goal is to message you all new release articles as they come out :D

Get two CW starters and hide the droids. You know you’re going to paint them eventually.

That makes even less sense in this context. If they're having supply or manufacturing problems to the point where they can't announce them at their biggest event, how on earth are they going to get them released before the end of the year? If FFG was taking the time to sort out their logistical chain, delaying everything til next year is annoying, but understandable, but that explanation doesn't work if they're pushing unannounced units out in the next few months.

In that case it would be if an announced unit had an unexpected delay but something else was ready to go.

The release schedules overall I suspect are weird because of the types of things I mentioned. When something with it seems obviously stupid, I assume it’s beyond their control.

Being as that they just doubled the number of factions and GCW is only missing a few truly notable things at this point I’m not going to worry.
