I personally would advise against pre-ordering until the prices agree with themselves unless you were already fine with paying the higher price.

I don't plan to pre-order from FFG and agree people should wait till the prices get fixed. I just wanted to check to corroborate another poster's experience

Same, I was just putting them in the cart to see the price, not actually purchasing.

So this is an out-there idea, but I was thinking about it and $25 USD translates to about $33 CAD, just two bucks short of a visually appealing $35. Maybe there was a snafu with currency? Or maybe there was just a miscommunication between the the guys setting the prices and the guys listing the prices, either way things seem a bit amiss right now as far as cost is concerned. I agree with others: probably best to wait 'til release (or a correctional announcement) before throwing money at it and hoping for the cheaper price.

Well GW doesn't do a direct currency equivalency... Wouldn't surprise me if FFG isn't...

Pretty sure they would get in trouble if they tried to charge you a price higher than what they quoted you when you checked out.

They seem to be significantly larger, at least the length of the Occupier base in diameter. Given the size of the AAT, that would only make sense, unless they shrunk it by about 50%.

I'd say it is not a fair comparison, starter sets are more valuable... And you need two of those 50 to get to 100$!!

Anyway, If you compare a company that just have began working with plastic minis to a well stablished company, do it in ALL fronts...

They don't do plastics well because they are beginning, oh poor FFG novice designers... BUT the price CAN be compared... Don't you think it is unfair?

It takes decades of working to reach the level of quality and excellence that GW has reached, the price is high, but there is no other company offering their product in such a high quality. I am not talking about the design, pretty or ugly is not a valid point, although some could say a word or two about a Han Solo or a Jedi Luke. And historical is a VERY niche product, althought I like Warlord Games products, I have to say that the minis, although nice, can't be compared with that of GW.

yoy only need four intelligent sprues to make 20 US GI's while making that five electro-priests sure will take at least 3 sprues with the best wargaming plastics in the world. Yes, it is the best, simply because other model makers (tamiya, revell, etc) don't take into consideration how big and hard and sturdy must a wargaming mini to be compared to the perfect but tiny pieces of a display model. And in the middle of this mess appears FFG with their not even close quality, their ugky designs and their higher than average prices and their token-models made of token plastic, and we must think they do nice to offer a one story building for 75. oh, yes.

ı'd say they are on a par, but the quality being WAY different. Multipose hard plastic components that allow you to make lots of customization are not soft plastic static models. And GW plastics can vary a lot their pricing, you can find a box with 20 guardians the same price as a single commander mini with dozens of options. But as a quick answer, vehicle are the same price and GW are wonderful while FFG are boring, lack movable parts, don't have detailed interiors, lack options, and the already mentioned quality is way worse.

I do compare it on all fronts. Weighing all the pros and cons, GW models are a poor value to me.

And I know your point about needing two to make $100: that’s why I said “toward”.

Yes GW have several things to recommend them. But that doesn’t outweigh the cons enough to justify the prices.

And Perry Bros are making stuff that’s just as high in quality for a fraction of the price. It just isn’t scifi/fantasy. People in the past have rebutted this by saying they are less detailed, but, as historical models they have all the details they are supposed to have. They ought not add details that didn't exist in the original subject matter.

Now, an important concession to Tubb's points, is that if Legion prices keep increasing at present rates, it's entirely plausible that soon they will be a poor value in my mind when compared to GW models. This won't get me to buy more GW, but it is still true. I had no idea the bunker was priced at $75 but if it is, I surely won't buy it. This may be a regional issue that Tubb and I have run into in our discussions as well: living in America, my prices for Legion are lower than his and I pay a lot more for Warhammer minis. So the comparisons may be very different.

My problems with GW's miniatures all stem from their surpassing the point of diminishing returns in regards to quality. So appeals to quality only make my point for me. And in return for these problematic changes to the models I'm expected to pay more. Unfortunately for GW's share of my money, there is a wealth of options nowadays. I may well buy worse models and concede that they are worse. A hamburger is worse than a steak, so I'll pay for more for a steak. Back in the 90's, GW's models were way better than everyone else's and cost slightly more. Now it's more like they're slightly better than everyone else's and cost way more. Ultimately for my tastes, GW is hitting a point where the hamburger from someone else is $5 and the steak is $50 and comes smothered in sauces I don't want. I frankly don't want most of the skulls, chains, scrolls, and candles the GW shoehorns onto every figure nowadays. To say nothing of their compulsion to surround models with tendrils of smoke and magical energy. I really dislike that artistic trend. I don't want smoke and stuff on my models, no matter who makes them.
