Chinese made, but probably assembled or at least distributed via the US meaning they may import the parts into the US and then send, I would doubt if the same company in China that makes the minis also makes the manuals etc. So that usually means you import the parts for assembling into boxes then ship them from the US so the Chinese tariffs also affect anything that is exported frm them wherever ,resulting in a global price increase. I've been expecting this for some time.

You can't compare Legion with Warhammer. The latter is a game that first saw release on the 80s and at that time I never saw weekly releases.For a year one game I don't think Legion is doing too badly. Warhammer is a money sink IMO. If I was buying new units every week or every second week, I know I couldn't keep up with it. Also Warhammer has way more power creep than Legion. Yes you can play with that 5 year old army you got but competitive , you won't be, since you have to have the later units to stay relevant. Having the units you got out of the core box still be relevant 1 year down the line is a good thing , not a bad thing, but it does mean that people don't have to buy the latest releases.

Give the game another 20 years and then compare against how Warhammer is now, even then Legion would still be 10 years younger. If legion tried to keep up with the same schedule as Warhammer there would be a lot of stock left on the shelves, which is not good for the game . game

Xwing outsold warhammer in the FLGS and was listed the no1 wargame for a number of years FFG know what they are doing at least when it comes to scheduling releases (note that this no.1 spot is due to one thing only and that is Warhammer shops themselves are not considered FLGS and do not release their sales figures, I'm sure if they did WH would be no1 ,2 at least with WH40K and Age of Sigmar)

To compare, how many FFG shops do you see in the high street? In my local area Warhammer shops outnumber the amount of FLGS and are in more prime and accessible locations. IMO Warhammer is a game that forces you to buy the latest and greatest units because to stay competitive you have to , Legion doesn't do this, it happened a bit with Xwing as they didn't expect the success they got and hadn't planned for the growth they got and as a result had to rework the game to rebalance everything. The same may happen with Legion as again it has expanded organically beyond its original boundaries, example operatives were not planned when they I'd the core, but we're added early.

So, here is my take;

Rex: I'm a little surprised we are getting him over Anakin, but a good surprise. I expect we will see him come with both phase I and II helmets. He is a favourite character, and having a non-force user is a decent choice for commander.

Dooku: oh man.. looks cool. I'm curious if we will get another option with his blade held up in the saber salute pose, but I'm all for a Christopher Lee mini.

Phase II: a decent choice, and honestly, seems the republic faction is now pretty much complete. Thematically, they don't have a lot if variety of troops, though there is enough to pad out other ranks and such. I see these as being as being nearly identical to the phase I clones, maybe with surge values. They have the Z-6 and a mortar, but I'm not expecting much difference and seems to be more of a style choice for your army.

B2 droids: This is interesting.. they seem to be a smaller unit size, with only one option for a heavy. I suspect these will be considerably more durable than the b1 (my theory is to give them armour 1 or 2 and a white die), but they don't have much variety due to one heavy, so the default is probably a decant attack.

AAT This model looks awesome. Can't wait to see it. I wonder if we will get some surprises with it in that it could be a command unit. Often we have seen a command droid (or organic leader) leading from the tank so that could be a huge shake up to how the separatists play.

Sabre tank: A decent counterpoint to the AAT, as it is one of a handful of appropriately sized heavy options. I don't expect much from this tank, except to be a rather straightforward unit, I expect arsenal 2 st least.

Escape pod with Artoo and Threepio: This is a surprise, and setting an interesting precedent. A dual faction release. Artoo and Threepio are republic AND rebel. I think that is interesting, and I think this will be an interesting objective pack. I am a little apprehensive due to my perceived value of it though. I hope the cards in it are of a more general useful nature, as opposed to limited objective/condition/deployment cards the mini campaign from the downed at-st had. At least the droids offer a value to players of the republic and rebel factions. This will be, very much, a wait and see purchase.

Imperial Bunker: This.. well.. it looks cool and all, but like the above apprehension, if this is nothing more than a miniature campaign it will be a hard pass. For the cost, if it is nothing but a terrain piece with limited replay-ability due to a mini campaign I can get a cheaper 3d printed version. Don't get me wrong, it looks gorgeous, but for the $100 Canadian price point, I need a lot more value to drop that much. I need cards as well as plastic that I can use every game I play in. If it is nothing but a mini campaign I'm going to 3d print one and get copies of the condition/deployment/objective cards. The comment of putting two back to back is, ridiculous.. I don't have anywhere near that kind of disposable income, and if it is limited to a glorified terrain piece - again it is beautiful, it is not worth the cost in my eyes.

As to the release schedule, many people have noted that December might be kind of light, release wise, and I wonder if there will be a tie in to the Rise of Skywalker which comes out then, which while I want both the First Order and Resistance as factions, I don't think would be a good thing. But, if mandated by Lucasfilm/disney, there may be little choice. But i don't see that as too likely.

All in all, while surprised at the lack of Anakin, i think it is a relatively safe and unsurprising choice for unit releases. The wild cards are the terrain pieces. With high cost and potentially limited use card wise, They are so far a hard pass for me, with the escape pod better due to iconic droid units.

I don't think so, or how can you explain that I got a boxed set of Rebel veterans in spanish while you still wait for yours?? The product goes straigh from China to were it is being distributed, US is only the place were the company is, but they are not importing chinese product to Spain, Ffg Spain does (or Asmodee, a french company) but the product never entering US border, and thus they don't pay any tariff for doing so.

In a general view I really liked the news, but I found two points less appealing:

- The increase in infantry price is excessive. Even if they are sprues, a 40% price increase is abusive. Moreover, in EU they make the change 1$=1€, increasing even more te prices.

- They new units will come in Q1 2020. What will means that these armies would not be playable until a long time before they will be launched. Sumarizing, they will have the same options that the rebel and imperial armies had in their first month (2 comanders, 2 troops, 1 support, 1 heavy), several month later. Having in mind that probably even with these options they will not be competitive still, a long time will be required to add these two armies to the competitive field.

I got mine in English before I got my Spanish ones. I actually suspect they were planning on holding back release or that Asmodee got theirs directly it's not the first time I've been able to order well in advance of the US release. In which case the European and UK releases might not see as much of a price hike, excepting the core set., Probably not though, for me Brexit will probably cause more problems with prices.

Like that you assumed I was waiting for them I got disqualified because brought them to my RPQ at the start of July because I didn't realise they weren't officially released. I could have fielded my two units or tauntaun as well but chose not to. (Also English)

It could be multiple supply lines FFG had an issue a few years back,it all comes down to stuff neither of us know

Armada is an all-but-dead game that never caught on in the first place. I enjoyed it when I played, but the crying Armada players on here get annoying. Armada also isn't releasing brand new factions with nothing but the core set for months. You've got two very detailed and complete factions; there's an incredible difference.

Personally, I think the escape pod will sell well. I’m all in on it. It offers a new game system to play, the terrain looks good, and I have new droid minis to play with. The droids will be useful in standard format I am sure. I also like the battle cards/format to get more game types in. To me, there’s more value there than just another mini unit to field in standard games only. I’m pretty happy.

Now, that bunker.... I can’t justify it. It’s a bit too extreme cost wise for what it does for me. It looks amazing, but it’s much much easier to get $40 of entertainment in new campaigns/missions than it is $75+. It looks amazing, and I’m envious for those who can afford to drop that, but I will not be a part of it.

The new factions I am torn on - there’s real hype for me, but at the same time I don’t get enough games in with the GCW.

It will sell, but for me, if there is limited cards that can’t be used in almost any game it is less value - I play only imperial at the moment, and was thinking of only playing Separatists, meaning the droids are not really any use to me. Again, if the escape pod is nothing more than something like the downed at-st mini-campign, it is not a worthwhile investment for me. Gaming on a budget.

Exactly. It needs to offer a huge benefit gameplay wise, because again, limited budget means I have to pick and choose. Mini campaigns don't do it for me for just terrain pieces.

Huh? Go visit the Armada forum and head to a big Armada event and tell me Armada never caught on. Maybe in your area it's not popilar, but in mine, and many places I've visited, it's has a lot of players.

Huge ship release today, biggest model FFG has made to date. A campaign coming out a few weeks. 2 brand new ships by the end of Q4. Clone Wars by Q4 2020... but it's "dead"

When I think about how Armada's release schedule was only slowed because of Legion and X-wing 2.0 in the first place, hearing the Legion folks Boohoo about a slow release really just pisses me off.

I love the new ships. The fact that FFG got the right to design (or at the very least be the first to release the design) of the StarHawk is amazing. The new imperial ship is hella interesting too.

Definitely. Especially with Legion prices going up in the CW releases. Plus, I still have a ton of Rebel/Imperial stuff I need to paint and play.

I'll be interested to see if FFG designed the StarHawk or merely got the rights to use it. If they did get to design it, it definitely bodes well for FFG. The StarHawk is a major part of the new canon.

Multiple units a month is just factually incorrect. October? November? December? (terrain pieces don't count). Look at GW releases and you'll see how a successful company does a release.

Legion needs to be compared to 40K, not Armada. Armada has a very limited community with a small ceiling. Legion can make it big, if FFG chooses to make it big.
